New Music: Ronya

I struggle to find Finnish music to share on here, so I was highly appreciative of a certain follower of Alfitude who sent me a couple of recommendations, one of which is Ronya.

I have heard of this lady before but never really connected to her music. However, this track is insane, and for that I am now a fan. I’m coming to realise that if there’s one thing the Finnish are good at with pop, is their sheer love of over-indulgence. Listen to the chorus- it’s mental! Check out here.

New Music: Moa Lignell

Swedish acoustic pop. Moa came third on Swedish Idol last year and is now releasing her debut album ”Different Path” on September 12th. Check out here.

Free Download: Cinnamon Girl ‘Devil In Me’ (Noosa Remix)

Noosa take’s on Cinnamon Girl’s amazing ‘Devil In Me’ and makes it sound so lush.

First Listen: Agnes ‘All I Want Is You’

Swedish pop royalty Agnes has a new single out now, with fourth studio album ”Veritas” out on September 5th.

Free Download: Johan Reinhold ‘Heart In A Jar’

Johan Reinhold is by far one of the big new stand-out artists emerging from Scandinavia this year. And I personally am a huge fan. So when you get an email detailing the release of his next free track, you’d be right to guess that I got a bit excited.

The track is, hands-down, one of the top five songs to come out of 2012 so far in my view. It’s a roller coaster of subdued, heartbroken riffs steadily destroyed by an epic chorus that lifts you to another level. You must download this, listen and get moved to it, and share it with your loved ones.

This isn’t even a proper single from Johan Reinhold. He calls it a ‘taster of what’s to come’. Exciting times ahead.

First Watch: Thorunn Antonia ‘So High’

There’s so much buzz around this Icelandic pop beauty that it’s exciting to wonder where’s it going to lead to.

Gnučči finally releases debut EP!

One of my favourite Swedish ladies of recent months, Gnučči has finally released a debut EP. I know it’s not the easiest thing to get in to, but once you give it a couple of listens it turns out to be pure genius. Is it MIA? Is it Nicki Minage? No. Gnučči’s here…

New Music: The Ginger

I must confess, a large chunk of the Swedish stuff I put up on here is of the electro pop variety, and much as love the stuff, it’s always refreshing to hear something completely different. The Ginger does something a little rare- it mixes a raw, heartbreaking sound with tremendous warmth. There were too many songs that I wanted to feature on here, but this one felt right at the time I was writing. Check out here.

New Music: Saturday, Monday

Interesting sound from this lot- there’s a bit of drum/bass mixed in with some warm pop noises. Swedish, of course. Check out here.

New Music: Miss Bloom

I can see this dividing opinion, but it’s good old fashioned pop from the Stockholm/ Hollywood-based Miss Bloom. I personally love it, brings a smile to the face. Check out here.

First Listen: Lissi Dancefloor Disaster ‘Singing My Heart Out’

Mix a formula with some vintage The Knife, some current Robyn and a little Miike Snow, and you get this track. It is pretty spectacular. This is the new song from Swedish lady Lissi Dancefloor Disaster.

A hazy Saturday afternoon…

This feels right for now, so here it is. It’s a beautiful little Swedish summer track by MaiNekk and Linnea Henriksson.

New Music: Smash Into Pieces

This is starting to be a very rock-heavy week on Alfitude, I’ve come to realise. Anyway, these Swedish rockers have signed a deal with Sony, so worldwide fame may be due shortly. Check out here.

My favourite Danish pop man is back…

… and he’s back with a big clubby track. Yes, it’s in Danish, as are all of Thomas Holm’s releases but who cares- I love it!

New Music: SLOWOLF

I can’t explain to you how excited I got when I heard this track by Copenhagen native SLOWOLF- the song’s already topped the Danish iTunes Electronic Song Chart and chosen as Pick of the Week on Danish National Radio (equivalent to BBC Radio One). This is epic on so many levels. Check out here.

New Music: Hurricane Love

So this Swedish group were previously famous in their home country for this track, but after a change in lead singer they have a new sound which is pretty special. I am really loving this acoustic video, Check out here.
