First Listen: Man Like Me ‘Squeeze’

One of my favourite new tracks from this month (and trust me, I hear a LOT of stuff every week…) this is the new Man Like Me single, produced by ex-The Streets‘ Mike Skinner. Single’s out May 28th. The band will play a special one-off launch show at London’s Dingwalls on May 24!

First Listen: Aiden Grimshaw ‘Is This Love’

When I heard this track last week I got really, really excited. I didn’t know back then who sang it. It’s been revealed that it was Aiden Grimshaw. To me, this is everything current pop should be, and more.

Aiden Grimshaw will release his incredible debut single ‘Is This Love’ on June 3 through RCA Records.

The song, written by Aiden, is taken from his debut album ‘Misty Eye’ which will be released on August 13.

The album contains all original material, co-written by Aiden.

Aiden appeared as a finalist in The X Factor in 2010. His audition is one of the most watched on YouTube – a striking a cappella version of Kanye West‘s Gold Digger.

Following his appearance on the show, Aiden, who is 20 years old, moved from his hometown of Blackpool to London and set up a home studio where he spent two years writing and recording demos with various writers and producers.

He found musical soul mate Jarrad Rogers (Lana del Rey, Tinchy Stryder), and the resulting songs make up his debut album.

‘Is This Love’ is an extraordinary, soaring pop anthem exploding with grinding drum & bass beats, and offers a taste of the light and shade, which Aiden explores in ‘Misty Eye’.

First Listen: Erik Hassle ‘Stay’

He’s back he’s back he’s back! So excited! One of my favourite artists of recent years, Erik Hassle is back with a beautiful track that gets catchier as the track goes by- much like ‘Hurful’ was. I really can’t wait to hear more.

First Listen: Jai Paul ‘Jasmine’

It’s been a year since this guy’s debut track- and now he’s back with this epic slice of pop, and it’s only a demo. Exciting.

First Listen: The Draymin ‘Should’ve Known Better (Album)’

The Draymin formed in 2005, are influenced by bands such as The Verve, The Stone Roses, Radiohead and 90’s dance records. They work from ‘The Hut’ in their hometown of Rosyth, Scotland – a wooden garage in their back garden, which they built themselves to allow them the space, time and freedom to piece their music together.

The album features their ‘underground’ single Heart Attack, which was championed by BBC Radio Scotland and XFM Scotland, and will be released on 2 April 2012 through Townsend Records. The album will be released digitally and physically, with the CD featuring two additional bonus tracks. The band will sign the first 300 copies of the CD that are sold.

First Listen: Scissor Sisters ‘Only The Horses’

This seems to be Scissor Sisters’ new single. Produced by the radio-loving Calvin Harris, I’m not really sure what to think of it but its pleasant enough.

First Listen: Sameblod ‘UR Road’

What a grim day it is in London today! Hopefully this new track from one of my favourite electropop newcomers will cheer things up. April 20th is the date of the release of their debut album on Riot Factory.

First Listen: Tulisa ‘Young’

I really didn’t think I would like Tulisa’s debut solo track. But I did. It’s nothing edgy or too cool, just good radio pop!

First Listen: Archeo ‘Glass Half Empty’

There’s been some buzz for this kid for a while now so it’s nice to hear some new stuff. It’s turning out to be a very Pop kinda week on here which is cool. This has Beyonce all over it.

First Listen: The Kill Van Kulls ‘Songs For Sinners EP’

The Kill Van Kulls are back with a new EP.

First Listen: Strangers ‘Shine On You’

I love this band. This is beautiful, and I think it’s probably going to help everyone on this Monday morning. ‘Shine On You’ is due for release on April 16th via Killing Moon Limited/Beatwolf Records.

First Listen: Estelle ft Janelle Monae ‘Do My Thing’

Singer/Songwriter/Rapper Estelle teams up with Atlantic Records label mate Janelle Monae on the funky Ne-Yo penned track, ‘Do My Thing’.

First Listen: Sam Sparro ‘The Shallow Ground’

A glimpse into upcoming Sam Sparro goodness, with a cameo from Swedish supertalent Erik Hassle. Happy Monday folks.

First Listen: Sameblod ‘Loud’

Two of my favourite Swedish popsters are back with an amazing new track. This track makes me so, so fucking happy.

First Listen: Jack Peñate ‘No One Lied’

The beautiful return. No gimmicks, just a voice and a guitar.

First Listen: Rebecca Ferguson ‘Too Good To Lose (Seamus Haji Remix)’

I absolutely love this remix of Rebecca Ferguson‘s new single. Definitely an improvement from her debut (in my opinion). This is some neo Chaka Khan shit right here. Enjoy.

First Listen: Jack Robert Hardman ‘Famous’

Featured last summer, it’s nice to hear some new stuff from this chap. This cute and simple track is set for release on the 6th February 2012, through Pleasant Pursuits / Essential Music (Cooking Vinyl).

First Listen: Lana Del Rey ‘Born To Die (Woodkid Remix)’

This remix is special because it’s done by the same chap who directed the video to the same song.
