First Listen: Professor Green ft Emeli Sandé ‘Read All About It’

An epic return for the mighty Professor Green featuring one of the big stand-out debut artists of the year, Emeli Sandé.

First Watch: Ray Foxx featuring Lovelle ‘La Musica’

I featured Lovelle back in May, and now she’s back with this catchy bit of summer house with Ray Foxx. Out on 25 September on Defected.

First Listen: Man Like Me ‘Peculiar’

Click here to check out the brand new music from one of my favourite bands. Loving!

Check out a preview of Example’s new album

It’s not out til September but this should keep you going til then. I didn’t think Example could sound better than his last effort but it sounds killer.

First Listen: Blink-182 ‘Up All Night’

They’re back! A darker sound to their usual stuff- it’s been eight years since Blink-182 released a single and this is a welcome return!

Listen to Get People’s EP in full here!

Get People are one of my favourite bands this year. “Picking up where last year’s Careless/Odyssey double A-side left off, Get People’s sophomore EP release Rain Tears is another slice of infectious, intelligent pop music. Rain Tears will be released on Friends vs Records on July 11th 2011.”

New single from Left Step Band

Previously mentioned back in March, Left Step Band are back with a fresh new single. It sort of sounds like a grown up Gym Glass Heroes. Check out their Bandcamp.

First Listen: Will Young ‘Jealousy’

Excellent come back from the original Mr Pop Idol. He’s come such a long way since that awful ‘Evergreen’ song! The new single from Will Young‘s forthcoming album, “Echoes”. Single released Aug 21st, album released Aug 22nd. Check out the video here.

First Listen: Cher Lloyd ‘Swagger Jagger’

Let’s be clear about this – I despised Cher Lloyd from the start on the X Factor. I found her cocky, ridiculously tacky and annoying. That said, I like this track. I know it samples ‘Oh My Darling Clementine‘ and forces in just about every current pop genre in a couple of short minutes but its a hot mess I’m enjoying listening to. I’m sorry. Listen to it here.

Update: Little brat’s pissed off the song’s leaked, ‘”I’ve never been this upset ever!” Lloyd tweeted following the leak. “I worked so hard, and people wanna ruin it for me, if you wanted to hurt me you’ve done a great job (sic).

“please dont do this to me. i wish i was at home with my family, i’ve been through enough this year. me and my brats are stronger than this!! come onnnn! lets get em !!!!”

I’d be a bit glad to know people can’t wait to hear my music but whatever…

First Listen: Birdy ‘Shelter’

At just 15, Birdy’s already had a big impact with her track ‘Skinny Lover’. Now she’s back with a reworking of The xx’s ‘Shelter’ which is just beautiful. Check out here.

First Listen: Nicola Roberts ‘Beat Of My Drum’

I know, a lot of people will look down on this single but for what it’s worth, this is about as edgy as mainstream pop is in the UK right now- and it’s actually a lot of fun. Produced by Diplo and Dimitri Tikovoi. She was always the odd one out from Girls Aloud, and this single is pretty left field compared to what the other girls have done with their solo stuff. And dare I say, I see small hints of Robyn in there too. Check out here.

First Listen: The Kill Van Kulls ‘Lost and Found’

I just adore this new single by The Kill Van Kulls, who I’ve featured on here before. Visit the band’s website to hear more, or download a remix of ‘Lost and Found’ right here!

MP3: The Kill Van Kulls – Lost and Found (Swansong Remix)

First Listen: Blackroom ‘Control’

I mentioned this Norwegian group some time ago and this is their new single. I don’t think you can find any flaws in this perfect piece or electropop with a big throwback to trip hop.

First Listen: Friendly Fires ‘Hawaiian Air’

Sun drenched, idyllic, blissful sound coming from Friendly Fires‘ forthcoming album, Pala. This must be the best album of the year I reckon. It’s sounding amazing so far. Check out the Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs remix here.

First Listen: Beastie Boys ‘Hot Sauce Committee Part Two’

Listen to the FULL album right here from the Beastie Boys! This is such a good way to start the week… back on form!

First Listen: Neon Hitch ‘Silly Girl’

Neon Hitch was one of the first artists featured on this blog, and this is her second single. It’s dirty.

First Listen: Frankmusik feat Far East Movement “Do It In the AM”

After the success of his top ten UK debut, Frankmusik is preparing to release his fresh blend of synth-pop, hard-knocking beats and flowing melodies in the US with Do It In the AM featuring Far East Movement (out July 18th) a new album inspired by the energy of his adopted hometown of Los Angeles. The single is produced by Billboard (Britney), Martin Kierzenbaum (Lady GaGa) and Frankmusik, and is one of his catchiest songs to date. So exciting!

First Listen: Friendly Fires ‘Live Those Days Tonight’

First single from my favourite band’s second album, out in May, called Pala. Nothing Friendly Fires does is wrong right now. So good. So good. Much as I love my job I was GUTTED to have missed out on pre-sale tickets for their comeback gig later in the year when I couldn’t get near to a computer. Anyone wanna be a lovey and give me a ticket?
