SOCKiTTOME – disguise

This weekend’s biggest bop comes courtesy of UK artist SOCKiTTOME (aka Matt Carter).

‘disguise’ is a self-crafted piece of indie-pop gold. Aside from its perfected production and catchy melody, the song’s lyrics are also sure to resonate with many listeners. Elaborating on the track’s inspiration, Carter explains:

“‘disguise’ is a song written and produced by myself from my bedroom studio. it’s a song about parasocial relationships and dealing with the fallout when that person you idolise is ultimately a facade hiding a more corrupt background – but in a more general sense it’s about how we all have to put on a front in order to hide our true selves.”

To date, SOCKiTTOME’s music has picked up praise from outlets like BBC Wales, The Luna Collective, and Its All Indie, while his songs have amassed almost 500k streams on Spotify alone.

SOCKiTTOME – the whistle song

Rising UK artist SOCKiTTOME returns with his third independent release, ‘the whistle song’.

Inspired by manipulative relationships, the song was written and produced entirely by SOCKiTTOME, and juxtaposes powerful lyrics with a soft and acoustic production that is reminiscent of Miike Snow’s finest work.

“I wrote this song about a couple I knew going through a difficult separation. One half had recently lost someone very close to them, became closed off and began to blame their partner for it all. I wrote this from the female’s perspective of wanting to salvage this relationship but finding fewer and fewer reasons to keep fighting for it. I recorded it in my old bedroom back in my hometown whilst taking a break from living in the same household. This is my first song covering a heavier topic.”

With an ever-growing fan base who are drawn to his inimitable style of bedroom-pop, SOCKiTTOME continues to pick up momentum with each release.
