For those outside of the UK, the M40 is a motorway that connects London with some cities around England. Unromantic as that sounds, Issey Cross has used the reference to create a beautifully emotive pop bop, showcasing crisp vocals, intricate beats and stellar songwriting.
“I wrote ‘M40’ to help me through being in a long distance relationship, which is hard enough without being in lockdown for more than a year. I spent so much time on the M40 it felt right to write a song about it!“
