Australian starlet Jewel Owusu is back today with a glistening slice of Y2K-inspired pop, called ‘b-day’.
The track looks at the pensive feelings that we sometimes experience on our birthdays – when we feel happy, but also somewhat melancholic at the same time.
“‘b-day’ is about feeling like you’re stuck in the same emotional and mental space as the previous year. I think with growing up you learn to be less hard on yourself, and I’m slowly learning that too.”
Jewel’s momentum has been on a steady rise in recent months, with the artist amassing more than 100k catalogue streams on Spotify so far. Owusu has also been supported by national media outlets like Triple J, as well as Acclaim, Vice and Purple Sneakers.
