“‘‘Coasting” is about being in denial when I was younger: I knew I needed to change but struggled to break away from toxic patterns. This song acknowledges that I had my fun, but it was becoming more dangerous than a good time. Multiple times where I felt I had got myself together – ready for rebirth with big plans and bright ideas – I was then straight back into old habits because of an old ‘friend’ or one glisten from a persuasive eye.
