ellie d. – Real Thing

LA-based singer and songwriter ellie d. is back today with a refreshingly energising new single.

‘Real Thing’ is a beautifully constructed piece of electro-pop that looks at our need for connection. This is a sound that feels dreamy and reflective, yet still maintains an uplifting sense of joy.

“Both a very vulnerable and unapologetic declaration of wanting connection, romance, all the butteries… A song about putting yourself out there. The sense of there’s a lot of ways to be strong, and the most popular way people think of is being independent and doing everything by yourself but it’s just as meaningful and it shows strength to say that you really want someone in your life and who will love and support you the way you want to be loved.”

As a starlet on the rise, ellie d. begins her year commanding more than 45k monthly Spotify listeners. Meanwhile, her catalogue of songs continue to grow in popularity, with more than 2.5 million cumulative streams to date.

ellie d. – Let Me Be F*ing Sad

With a profile that has continued to grow ever since the release of her viral ‘Passionfruit’ collaboration with Rando, rising artist ellie d. unveils a new track today.

Showcasing her unique brand of vulnerable pop, new single ‘Let Me Be F*ing Sad’ is a heartbreak song that looks into the immediate aftermath of a relationship ending – when all you want to do is feel your emotions.

“Almost a year ago, I had just experienced a really bad breakup and had gotten out of a very toxic relationship. I was in NY, and was only supposed to be there three days but ended up staying three weeks. I had a writing session with EMIA where we just vented about boys and relationships and suddenly we had the beginnings of my first EP. It was a very sad chapter in my life but I am also grateful it happened because it gave me so much great music! ‘Let me be f*ing sad” is the first stage after a breakup, you don’t want to reflect yet, you just want to be sad and in your feels.”

Garnering more than two million catalogue streams to date on Spotify alone, this California-based newcomer’s approach to music-making offers a refreshing alternative within the pop world.

Already making an impact thanks to her cover of Drake’s ‘Passionfruit (which amassed over a million streams on Spotify alone), ellie d. delivers a kind of pop which is stripped back and chilled, all the while being relatable and touching to the listener.

‘Reach Out’ reflects on the dilemma we all face after a break up, when we still want to stay in touch with that person yet we are unsure of what to do.

“I had just ended things with someone and wanted to tell them about this new job I got. But I also didn’t wanna be the first to reach out.”
