SONG OF THE WEEK

Over the past couple of years, KhakiKid has grown to become one of Ireland’s rising hip hop stars, and the momentum is only getting stronger.

The new single ‘Easy Does It’ was produced by frequent collaborator Chameleon, who also shows up on vocals.

“It’s about being a mess and knowing you don’t deserve someone’s love or affection, but still hoping they’ll give you some. It’s also about coming to terms with the fact that you can’t just fix everything overnight and expect everything to be okay from then on.” – KhakiKid

The accompanying music video, directed by Moses O’Halloran, features KhakiKid with his friends, enjoying life and embracing the unpredictabilities that come with it.

KhakiKid – Sports & Tattoos

One of our favourite talents to have emerged so far this year has been 22-year old Dublin rapper KhakiKid.

Today marks the return of this rising artist with his new single ‘Sports & Tattoos’, taken from the upcoming debut EP entitled ‘Elevator Music’ (releasing in September).

Perfectly balancing elements of hip hop with pop, soul and funk, the track showcases KhakiKid’s sharp observations on unspoken love:

“You know those mates of yours that should be a couple but just won’t accept it? They’ve been friends so long that they think it’d be weird to see each other but it’s obvious they’re both into one another. That’s what ‘Sports & Tattoos’ is about. They can’t help but flirt with each other but always play it off as a joke. They’re afraid of making a move in case it’ll ruin everything.”

After selling out his own headline show earlier this year in Dublin, KhakiKid is set to perform at several festivals over the summer – including Longitude, Forbidden Fruit and Otherside.
