London based multi-instrumentalist wonder-kid Pastel celebrates the release of his new album today with the single ‘Caramel‘ – a dreamy track with beautifully constructed soul and indie-pop tones.
Taken from the album ‘Cereal’ which is out now.
An infectious fusion of soft disco and neo-soul… So perfect for a chilled sunny afternoon.
“Ben was studying in London and we got in touch through a mutual friend in Camden, from Nashville. It started more like a jam at the beginning – I was playing a few chords, Ben came up with the solos behind and then I found the guitar lead. We actually sang the song that day and finished the instrumental later in the week by adding some more layers and some choir vocals to lift the harmonies. It really was a case of spontaneity fuelling creativity!”
“I was playing in Taipei for the New Year, staying with my good friend Haoting. We hadn’t seen each other about a year and the energy around us was really strong. We immediately started working on ‘Let You’ and everything just came so naturally – the song was made in a week between noodle soup and some shooting for Haoting’s band.”
