SAYAK DAS – SCUMBAG

One of LA’s finest newcomers to emerge this year, SAYAK DAS returns today with his new single, ‘SCUMBAG’.

Adding to his ‘NO LOSS ONLY CHANGE’ collection of songs, the track showcases an impressive piece of sonic artistry that seamlessly blends dark, soulful indie-pop with alternative R&B.

“‘SCUMBAG’ is my super villain era anthem. Everyone has found themselves feeling wrongly villainized at one point or another, sometimes by the people closest to them. I wanted to talk about how leaning into that can be cathartic. Somewhat of a play on ‘nice guys finish last’ but without all the social implications.”

SAYAK DAS ends the year on a high, having accumulated more than 200k streams on Spotify from the release of just four songs. Keep an eye out for this kid – next year could be very interesting!

SAYAK DAS returns today with yet further proof as to why this LA-based artist is one talent to watch.

Continuing with his ‘NO LOSS ONLY CHANGE’ project, new single ‘VICIOUS‘ delivers an arresting alt-rock sound that is both powerfully raw and lyrically captivating.

“The plot of ‘VICIOUS’ is pretty self-explanatory – get it together or you’ll keep repeating the same mistakes. I found that a lot of the topics on the EP involved ‘proving something’. While writing this, I realised that my need to prove myself kept landing me back in the same horrible situations that all the other songs were written about. This song is about me capping that off, finally breaking the cycle, and moving on.”

To date, SAYAK DAS has accumulated close to 100k streams from only three releases, while also being playlisted on prominent outlets like Spotify’s New Pop Picks and tout’s Alt Pop.

Hailing from Los Angeles is hugely promising newcomer SAYAK DAS. Today marks this artist’s launch through the release of debut single ‘DID U RLY?’.

Refreshingly raw, bold and epic in tone, the track serves as an amalgamation of genres that include elements of alternative rock and R&B, soul and hip hop.

“‘DID U RLY?’ Is the break-up song I’ve been trying to write my whole life. I think just about everyone can relate to having an ex reach back out just to ‘check in’. It’s your typical ‘If you can’t handle me at my worst, you don’t deserve me at my best’ – but angry.”

With such a confident and unique approach to music-making, SAYAK DAS has already proven that he is one artist that should firmly be on your radars.
