New Music: Sunkissed Child

Emerging from the UK is hugely promising Lebanese newcomer Sunkissed Child, who releases her new single, ‘Monday Grind’ today.

Seamlessly blending elements of alternative R&B with neo-soul and hip hop, the track showcases a sound that is reminiscent of Amy Winehouse’s ‘Frank’ era, while still maintaining its own distinct sonic identity.

Sunkissed Child plays alongside Tamzene at the Hyde Park Book Club in Leeds on the 6th November – details can be found here.

Tamzene – Called You Out

Hailing from the small town of Cromarty in the Scottish Highlands comes emerging songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Tamzene. With beautifully bold and emotive vocals, this hugely promising starlet crafts melodic and poignant songs that carry an essence of timelessness to them.

Powerful new single ‘Called You Out’ was written as a response to an online disagreement with a friend, sparked by the Black Lives Matter movement.

“This is really important to me and I realised I couldn’t take people with me who didn’t want to put in the work to be better. The track is about not allowing your history with someone to blind you from seeing their true nature. It’s about accepting the moment you no longer want to be in someone’s life, because they simply don’t see you.”

Taken from the debut EP which will be arriving this spring.

“You’re With Somebody Now’ came from a period where I was looking to the past for answers, and I found them. Lewis Gardiner (producer and co-writer) has a talent for tapping into truth. So this song comes from an honest place of pain and realisation.”
