The Danphes – Distance

Short and sweet is the message of the day from UK indie outfit The Danphes, who return today with a summery new single that, despite only running for two minutes, packs a tonne of energy and charm.

‘Distance’ is a guitar-driven track that blends nostalgic, 80s-inspired indie with subtle hints of shoegaze and dream pop, mirroring the hazy emotions we go through when we are young and in love.

“‘Distance’ taps into the rush of young love and the feeling of getting lost in someone.”

To date, the Norwich newcomers have released two other singles, cumulatively amassing thousands of streams.

New Music: The Danphes

It’s a big day for British newcomers The Danphes, as they release their debut single and introduce their fantastic music to the world.

This group of friends have joined forces to become one of Norwich’s newest musical outfits, creating an invigorating indie sound that epitomises the essence of rebellious youth. If you love The Smiths or Teenage Fanclub, then the chances are high that you’ll also enjoy these chaps’ music.

‘Heartbreak High’ was recorded at the famous Sick Room Studios, and speaks of a love between two people. The track feels playful and hopeful, while also capturing that youthful and unwavering ambition to run away and be free from the world.

“This song is about two people planning a quiet escape together – late night drives, headlights in the rear view and that feeling of being completely in sync with someone. It blends atmospheric indie guitars with nostalgic, cinematic mood inspired by wanting to run away and never look back.”

If you’re based in Norwich then you can catch The Danphes performing live at The Holloway on the 30th of March – get your tickets here, and catch them before they become huge!
