Tom A. Smith – Boltcutters

Fast-rising 17-year-old Sunderland newcomer Tom A. Smith releases his debut collection of songs today in the form of ‘EP1’, and with it comes breezy new single ‘Boltcutters’.

“It came from an idea about not wanting to fall for someone and them using all their powers for it to work. A bit of fun compared to the heavy stuff. Love playing it live as I have people singing it back already.”

To date, Tom’s music has earned radio play on the BBC (Radio 1, 6Music and Introducing), Radio X, KCRW, Triple J, and Amazing Radio, as well as being featured on The Times, CLASH, Louder Than War, NARC and RTE.

‘EP1’ is out now.

New Music: Tom A. Smith

Emerging from the UK comes Sunderland-based newcomer Tom A. Smith. Despite only being 17-years old, this talent has already achieved more than most artists do in a lifetime. His first gig came aged just eight, and he’s already performed at the legendary Glastonbury and Kendall Calling festivals.

Anthemic debut single ‘Wolves’ was produced by Larry Hibbitt, who’s worked alongside the likes of Nothing But Thieves, The Snuts and Sea Girls.

“I wrote ‘Wolves’ during a time when I felt that the vulnerable were being neglected, and in my opinion nothing much has changed.”
