WUKASA – Party People

Scottish alt-pop group WUKASA unveil their latest single today, called ‘Party People’.

Through its balanced mix of synth-infused electronic pop and alternative R&B, the track delivers an understated yet uplifting style of sound that is rich in character and sonic texture. Elaborating further on the song’s lyricism, the band explain:

“The lyrics of the song characterise that person we have all wanted to be at some point in our lives. The one in charge. The one in total control. It makes no apologies, it knows it’s the best, and it does not care what anyone thinks. The song demands that you ‘own it’, no matter how bad things get.”

WUKASA’s popularity continues to rise with each release. Recently, they were featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday UK and Hot New Bands playlists, while their previous single, ‘California’ (listen here) was crowned as BBC Introducing’s Track of the Week.

Fans can look forward to an upcoming EP, which is scheduled for release later this year. WUKASA will also perform a concert in their hometown of Edinburgh in November.

New Music: WUKASA

One of the most exciting discoveries to emerge from Scotland this month has been alt-pop outfit WUKASA.

The band release a new single today, entitled ‘California’. Through its shimmering blend of lo-fi pop and mellow indie, the track encapsulates our desire to escape from the mundane.

While still early in their career, this Edinburgh-based group have already collaborated on songs with personnel as noted as Adam Haggar (Childish Gambino, Kanye West), BuzzKiller (Robbie Williams, Olly Murs) and Dave Lloyd (Stillhound).

Be sure to keep these chaps on your radar – they might just turn out to be one of the UK’s next big global exports.
