Cate Tomlinson – The Ring of Fire

Cate Tomlinson’s new single is really quite the sonic experience. On ‘The Ring of Fire’, listeners are treated to a distinctively dark electronic pop sound that is refreshingly original in style.

The song is conceptual and bold while still maintaining a mainstream essence that guarantees enjoyment for anyone who chooses to press play. On the lyrics, Cate says:

“I wrote this song about a girl who is seduced by the devil in the shape of a boy. He tricks her into sacrificing herself by promising they can be together forever in the afterlife. The story is about temptation, manipulation, and being loyal to something that is intoxicating in the moment but ultimately fatal.”

Cate Tomlinson – Blueberry Season

This isn’t the first time that we’ve featured LA-based artist Cate Tomlinson, and judging from her recent releases, it definitely won’t be the last!

New single ‘Blueberry Season’ is an anthemic summer bop that blends pop with punchy rock, and acts as the title track to Tomlinson’s forthcoming sophomore EP (out 25th August).

The world might not yet know Cate Tomlinson, but this talent is very much a star in the making.

After a recent slew of successful singles, this hugely promising American singer and songwriter returns with a stunning new track, entitled ‘Damage Control’.

Representing some of the most exciting new talent from the USA is 20-year-old singer, songwriter and performing artist Cate Tomlinson.

Still a student at Northeastern University, this Boston-based creative forms emotive sounds inspired by pop, soul, and rock & roll. The end result is music that feels fresh and current, while still maintaining a deeper and more soulful essence.

“Whether it’s composing a brutal text or making a grocery list, the Notes app has become Gen-Z’s (and my own) digital diary. I wrote this song about stress-writing text apologies in my Notes app; ‘notes app apology’ wallows in the paralysing period of time where you know a relationship is all wrong and you need to get out – but you haven’t left yet. I found myself in a toxic situation and still had the instinct to protect the relationship and hold onto this person. I wrote about realising they thought they could say anything to me thinking I’d always be there, and coming to terms with the fact that the time I spent drafting texts in my Notes app to put us back together was time wasted.”
