Dasha – Make A Scene

It’s taken a short while, but rising US starlet Dasha has finally released her much-anticipated debut album today, entitled ‘Dirty Blonde’ (out now).

Among the seventeen songs on the record is ‘Make A Scene’, which presents listeners with a bold alt-pop sound that is utterly captivating to experience. Elaborating on the track’s meaning, Dasha explains:

“I wrote ‘Make A Scene’ with The Gifted in LA and I remember going home that night and I listening back to the rough day bounce but instantly knew this song would be an integral part of my debut album. I had the title/ lyric ‘Make A Scene’ in my song ideas in my notes app for months. I pulled inspiration from the golden age of Hollywood in both production and lyrical choices. There’s something so timeless about that era that’s so inspiring to my artistry. ‘Make A Scene’ is all about wanting to show someone off to the world in the most confident and glamorous way.”

‘Dirty Blonde’ follows on from 2021’s acclaimed ‘$hiny Things’ EP, which received support from outlets as noted as Nylon Mag, Rolling Stone India and UPROXX.

Stateside fans can catch Dasha performing album release shows at LA’s Moroccan Lounge on the 29th Jan, and New York’s Mercury Lounge on 15th Feb.

Dasha – Wish That You Were Here

Singer and songwriter Dasha returns with one of the most moving releases of the week.

Co-written alongside Alfitude favourite Ben Kessler and produced by The Nicholas, new single ‘Wish That You Were Here’ serves as a taster to Dasha’s forthcoming debut ‘Dirty Blonde’ album (out 27 Jan 2023), of which she says:

“’Dirty Blonde’ is all about juxtaposition. The dark and the light. The screaming and the crying. Breaking up and falling in love. The seduction and the innocence. The dirty and the blonde. I wouldn’t pin it to one genre either, though it falls under the pop umbrella. You’ll hear country/ folk influences, punk rock influences, classical music influences, and more. But what holds it all together is that it was all written by me. All the stories are mine.”

Already garnering more than seven million career streams to date, this 22-year old starlet has received praise from the likes of EARMILK, Pop Matters and MTV.

The Belgium-based songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist releases an absolute bop in the shape of ‘Going Nowhere’ today, featuring emerging pop artist Dasha.

The song seamlessly captures the back and forth of a new relationship riddled with games, while shutting down the person who expects her to drop everything for their attention.

“’None Of My Business’ was written around the feeling you get when the person you want doesn’t want you back. The storyline in the record is exaggerated into walking in on the guy you’re with and another girl cheating, but the sentiment is the same. There are so many songs about crying over someone who doesn’t want you back, but I’m not about to spend that much energy playing the victim and being hurt over some dude. ‘None Of My Business’ is all about showing that person the bad bitch they lost and almost rubbing it in their face a little!”
