Sam Short – I Wouldn’t Love Me

LA-based singer, songwriter and social media artist Sam Short is back with a powerful and relatable new single called ‘I Wouldn’t Love Me’.

Inspired by the personal struggles we face against ourselves, the track serves as a reminder that we all have moments in life when we feel low and insufficient.

“I wrote this song when I was at my lowest. Despite the fact that I was in a happy, flourishing relationship, I personally had never felt worse. I couldn’t understand how both of these things could be true, and more so, I couldn’t understand why my partner would choose to love someone as difficult and defeated as me. Throughout this songwriting process, I put myself in their shoes, and came to the conclusion that I wouldn’t love me.”

With more than 3.8 million views on TikTok already, this song looks set to become one of Short’s biggest hits yet. The artist is currently readying the release of her full-length debut EP, which will be out later in the summer. In the meantime, you can stream more of Sam’s music here.

Rising singer and songwriter Sam Short returns with a beautifully honest piece of pop that continues to showcase this promising starlet’s work.

Emotive, fragile and sincere in tone, ‘Taste It’ serves as an anthem for those of us who have had our hearts broken. Elaborating further on the lyrics, Short explains:

“This is the most honest song I’ve ever written. It epitomises my very first heartbreak. It details the visceral reaction that comes with betrayal… the feeling that is so painful you hate it, and so real you can taste it.”

Short has currently accumulated more than four million streams on Spotify alone from just three singles, while her songs have been featured on noted playlists like New Music Friday, Fresh Finds and SALT.

While the name may not (yet) be familiar to most, Sam Short is already an accomplished songwriter who has worked for the likes of Katy Perry, Shakira and NOTD.

So it comes as no surprise that Short’s own solo work is a masterclass in pop. Songs like ‘Naked’ feature punchy lyrics and catchy melodies over sleek electronic productions, giving Short’s music a strong sense of character.

“‘Naked’ is essentially an ode to self-love and sensuality. It encompasses all of what it means to not only be independent, but to be empowered as a female in today’s world. I wrote the song in an effort to help myself recover from a tumultuous break-up, and I hope it helps others do the same.”

While still on her second release, Short has already accumulated a significant fan base, with more than 350k followers on TikTok alone.
