Sophia Alexa – Hall Pass

Rising starlet Sophia Alexa returns with a sensational new single called ‘Hall Pass’.

Sonically, the track fuses indie and alt-pop with essences of folk, while the lyrics focus on those moments in life when we wonder if things are too good to be true.

“I wrote ‘Hall Pass’ because I wanted to capture the feeling of self-sabotage. I’ve always had this fear that when something is going too well I’m just waiting for it to fall apart. It’s almost a form of protection and being okay with someone leaving before you get hurt, which is why I loved the title hall pass, it’s giving someone an out.”

Alexa’s momentum has been on a steady rise for some time now. The artist currently commands more than 50k monthly listeners on Spotify, while her music has been streamed more than three million times to date. There’s no doubt in our minds that this talent is destined for great things.

Fabich + fika – Pretend (feat. Sophia Alexa)

Some of my recent favourite talents team up to create one of the peak songs of the week. Fabich’s ‘Pretend’ features frequent collaborators fika, alongside Sam Sure and Sophia Alexa.

The nostalgia-tinged track flirts between alt-pop and indie, talking about the fleeting love of a perfect summer romance – which like all good things has to come to an end at some point.

New Music: Sophia Alexa

London-based artist Sophia Alexa crafts a gorgeously delicate indie-pop sound on new single ‘House of Cards’.

“I remember the day I wrote the song! I was pulling out words from my notes, such as “house of cards” and “bullet to my daydream,” which is how the song started. RISC, the producer, started playing chords and the melody started to come to life. After that, he added drums to lift the chorus, and I added a bunch of harmonies. It ended up coming together naturally.”
