Talii – More Than Friends

Rising American artist and songwriter Talii unveils her latest release today, entitled ‘More Than Friends’.

Continuing with her style of exquisitely fusing elements of R&B and soul with pop, the track showcases a side to Talii that listeners will not have heard before – as she begins to open up about her sexuality in a gorgeously emotive way.

“‘More Than Friends’ actually started as a vocal sample that, my boyfriend/ producer, Gbliz and I created. Phil Mango (of Luxury Lane) took the sample and added this amazing afrobeats bounce to it. ‘More Than Friends’ is bringing the listener in on a conversation going on with a friend and I. She’s been venting about her toxic boyfriend, meanwhile, I’m insinuating that I can treat her better (“we could be more than friends”). It’s the first time I’ve ever shared my queer side in a song before so it’s nerve wracking yet freeing. I feel like the persona I take on in the song is a little more confident than I am when it comes to flirting with women lol but it was fun to embody that for this song.”

To date, this rising talent has garnered praise from respected tastemakers including Billboard, Notion, Wonderland and EARMILK, while also landing placements on noted Spotify playlists like ‘Fresh Finds: The Wave’.

Talii – Pointless Numbers

Orlando native Talii returns today with a song that defines the essence of soulful youth with unmistakable authenticity. ‘Pointless Numbers’ is a brooding, dark RnB sound that is beautifully atmospheric and totally mesmerising.

“I wrote ‘Pointless Numbers’ during a particularly heavy depressive state I was in at the time. When those moments hit, I shut myself off from everyone and tend to suffer in silence even though I know I need help… I pick up my phone over and over to reach out to someone but even though I have hundreds of numbers, I don’t feel like I can text or call a soul. I know I’m not the only one who has felt like this. Creating this song has been a release for me and helped me share my struggle with mental health when it was hard for me to express it before. I hope it’s also a release for others. Something they can cry to… Something that gives their pain a voice when they struggle to find the right words. Something that helps other people feel less alone.”

Taken from the forthcoming EP, due out summer 2021.

Talii – Good To Be Bad

Ahead of Talii’s debut EP expected later this year, this is a sign of things to come and I can’t wait to hear more.

“This song was really inspired by a few things including this sexy, darker side that I have but that I don’t always show. I feel like everyone has that in some way. We all have hidden desires, fantasies, kinks, or things that we fear others may not fully accept about us; inside and outside of the bedroom.”
