Turn The Lights On
This is Fleur’s new single, ‘Turn The Lights On’ (produced by Culture Shock) and is released in February. Catchy and fresh!
First Listen: The Score ‘Don’t Wanna Wake Up’
A really cute new song from The Score, who I previously featured back in August this year. You can’t go wrong with pop as innocent as this!
First Listen: Various Cruelties ‘If It Wasn’t For You’
There’s a prediction going round the industry right now reckoning guitar music to explode again in 2013, but to be honest I’m not quite sure I agree with it to the extent they think it will be. But then I’m hearing some really unique indie like this by Various Cruelties and it makes me question myself. In any case, I really like this. It’s catchy but doesn’t rely on big noisy hooks to grab attention.
First Listen: Amina Bryant ‘On My Own’
This new track from Amina Bryant is showing some real potential. Her debut EP is out next year.
First Listen: Maya von Doll feat. Robs & Duke ‘Is This Love’
I’m kicking the week off with this massive tack. It’s Maya Von Doll’s new single and it’s out today. Get it.
First Listen: Gus By Heart ‘The Last Place’
Something nice and mellow to wind the weekend down from Gus By Heart. He released his debut EP ‘Rather Be Singing Than Thinking’ on October 10th and this is the second single from it.
First Listen: A*M*E* ‘Heartless’
Another pop belter from A*M*E.
First Listen: Dancing Heals ‘Charlie Brown’
Some chilled soft shoegaze from one of my favourite new Australian bands- Dancing Heals.
First Listen: Kate Boy ‘In Your Eyes’
Loving this folk/electro clash track from Kate Boy. Epic!
First Listen: Solange ‘Lovers In The Parking Lot’
First Listen: Friendly Fires ‘Why Dont You Answer?’
My favourite band (probably, ever…) have covered a 1980’s classic and it’s beautiful. It’s featured on the album Late Night Tales – Friendly Fires.
First Listen: Freja ‘Love at First Kiss’
New electropop track from Swedish Freja.
First Listen: Woman E ‘Reap’
This is the new track by London electronic pop act Woman E, off forthcoming EP Hit & Run.
First Listen: The Neighbourhood ‘Let It Go’
The Neighbourhood have a stomper of a new single out January 14th 2013 that’s really worth a listen. This band will be huge.
First Listen: Icona Pop ‘We Got The World’
First Listen: Josefina Stanner ‘Clock Stands Still’
This might be the happiest bit of indie you might hear all week. It’s the new single from Swedish indie pop newcomer Josefina Sanner.
First Listen: Christophe Willem ‘Love Shot Me Down’
So, I must admit I’m a fan of this French pop star. At a first listen you would think it’s a girl’s vocal, but it isn’t. And that’s what makes Christophe Willem’s voice so extraordinary. His brilliant first album ‘Inventaire’ was released in 2008 sold over 900.000 units in France alone. He’s playing London’s Bush Hall on Wednesday 28th November- be sure to catch him if you can!
First Listen: Frida Sundemo ‘Indigo’
Frida Sundemo is one of my favourite Scandinavian artists, period. And yet she’s still so new I don’t know anyone to share this love of her with. Anyway, it looks like things are finally picking up for this talented Swede as this new track sounds super polished and ready for global domination. About time.
First Listen: Frankmusik ‘Fast As I Can’
Ive always been a fan of Frankmusik– and of late Im not really sure what his story is, but this new track has emerged and it’s pop brilliance.
