New Music: Flow Machines
Flow Machines surfaced in late 2008 with a major reworking of The Human League‘s classic b-side ‘Hard Times’. An album and remix EP followed, and by 2008 the studio-based act had received acclaim in Time Out magazine and the NME for their own remixes of Cornershop and The Lost Cavalry respectively.
Flow Machines are intent on keeping their identity a mystery… They are yet to play live, give an interview, or release a press photo, opting instead to focus 100% of their energy to releasing their unique edgy pop. Check out here.
New Music: The Dø
I’m in two minds about this. No, actually, I’m in three minds. One tells me this is amazing. The other tells me this is utter crap. And the third tells me this girl’s eyebrows are vicious. But I definitely feel this is a very strong piece of work, so make your own minds up. Check out here.
New Music: Son Of A Kid
New Music: War Of Words
This has a very 90’s vibe to it and is nothing short of amazing. Pure fresh fierceness. Check out here.
New Music: Random Impulse
I am really feeling this. Big London attitude from Random Impulse mixing rock, soul, and mc’ing all in one. It’s a bit Gym Class Heroes. Only much better. Check out here.
New Music: Gary Clark Jr.
This is so, so good. Blues with some big soul sounds. I would kill to watch this guy live. Check out here.
New Music: Pandr Eyez
Smooth, slick, slow and well-produced dubstep. Best listened to on a dark, cold London night with a broken heart. Check out here.
New Music: Savoir Adore
New Music: Deaf Club
Big, atmospheric drums take over this delicate indie sound. Check out here.
New Music: Stella Le Page
New Music: Rasmus Seebach
The story of Rasmus Seebach is one of great interest to me. Born into Danish pop royalty, his father Tommy Seebach was an alcoholic pop star who died suddenly. This song was originally released in Danish under the title ‘Natteravn‘, and subsequently went huge all over Scandinavia. Now he’s releasing the single with some really good English lyrics for the rest of the world. Check out here.
New Music: Dave Melillo
What you’re hearing is a demo, so don’t judge this track by the production, but more about the whole sound. I really think this guy will take off with the right record deal. Check out here.
New Music: Nous Non Plus
Don’t be fooled into thinking this is a few decades old- this is very new. Yes, it’s in French. Although they do say ‘I’ve had enough’ somewhere towards the end which makes me think the lyrics aren’t as happy as the tune. They are actually Americans who have been pretending to be French for some years now. Check out here.
New Music: Nabiha
New Music: Adam Tensta
This is really good electro rap from the Swedish institution that is Adam Tensta. He’s not really made impact outside of Sweden but Im pretty sure this will make a dent in the UK… Check out here.
New Music: Bebe Black
Huge things being predicted for this lady- it just oozes talent. Soul/ pop that is mighty catchy and has that London vibe. Check out here.
New Music: Fingersnap
This is so sugary it could rot your teeth. Happy, soulful pop from Fingersnap – the coupling of artist David McAlmont and musical tour de force Guy Davies. Fingersnap’s first release comes in the form of the Smokehouse EP that was written whilst on a writing retreat in Ireland earlier this year and recorded in London over the summer. Check out here.
New Music: All The Young
Recently seen supporting Morrissey, The Courteeners and Hard-Fi following personal invites from all three artists, the rise of AllThe Young continues with the release of their third single ‘Quiet Night In’ on October 10th on Midlands Calling / Warner Bros. Records. Check out here.
New Music: Cattle & Cane
This is stunning- I would be very shocked if this didn’t move you in the slightest. Following on from their meteoric rise in 2010 after being selected by the BBC to perform at Scotland’s legendary T In The Park – the band released their debut, the Sold My Soul EP, to heavy critical acclaim in April 2011. Increasingly tipped for big things by heavyweights like iTunes, BBC 6Music and a ‘single of the week’ award in the News Of The World. Check out here.
