New Music: The Brandt Brauer Frick Ensemble

Something a little different today- this is an ensemble band. I just can’t stop watching and listening to the video- it’s pretty captivating stuff. Check out here.

New Music: Flow Machines

Flow Machines surfaced in late 2008 with a major reworking of The Human League‘s classic b-side ‘Hard Times’. An album and remix EP followed, and by 2008 the studio-based act had received acclaim in Time Out magazine and the NME for their own remixes of Cornershop and The Lost Cavalry respectively.

Flow Machines are intent on keeping their identity a mystery… They are yet to play live, give an interview, or release a press photo, opting instead to focus 100% of their energy to releasing their unique edgy pop. Check out here.

New Music: Rasmus Seebach

The story of Rasmus Seebach is one of great interest to me. Born into Danish pop royalty, his father Tommy Seebach was an alcoholic pop star who died suddenly. This song was originally released in Danish under the title ‘Natteravn‘, and subsequently went huge all over Scandinavia. Now he’s releasing the single with some really good English lyrics for the rest of the world. Check out here.

New Music: Nous Non Plus

Don’t be fooled into thinking this is a few decades old- this is very new. Yes, it’s in French. Although they do say ‘I’ve had enough’ somewhere towards the end which makes me think the lyrics aren’t as happy as the tune. They are actually Americans who have been pretending to be French for some years now. Check out here.

New Music: Fingersnap

This is so sugary it could rot your teeth. Happy, soulful pop from Fingersnap – the coupling of artist David McAlmont and musical tour de force Guy Davies. Fingersnap’s first release comes in the form of the Smokehouse EP that was written whilst on a writing retreat in Ireland earlier this year and recorded in London over the summer. Check out here.

New Music: Cattle & Cane

This is stunning- I would be very shocked if this didn’t move you in the slightest. Following on from their meteoric rise in 2010 after being selected by the BBC to perform at Scotland’s legendary T In The Park – the band released their debut, the Sold My Soul EP, to heavy critical acclaim in April 2011. Increasingly tipped for big things by heavyweights like iTunes, BBC 6Music and a ‘single of the week’ award in the News Of The World. Check out here.
