Tadhg Daly – Your Heart’s Not In It

The first thing that catches your attention when you press play on ‘Your Heart’s Not In It’ is Tadhg Daly’s tremendously captivating and powerful vocal. The Jersey born, Irish singer and songwriter creates a kind of sound that feels honest, warm and relatable.

“‘Your Heart’s Not In It’ is written as the end of a love story based on some of my own experiences. It represents the moment at the end of a relationship in which one person has fallen out of love but hasn’t made their feelings clear, and the other person is left on the hook just wanting to hear the final words and find freedom to move on.”

Featuring Rebekah’s distinctly rich and emotive vocals, the song is a heart-wrenchingly poignant piece that captures the struggle to express the true weight of a permanent goodbye between two people.

“I have had several significant goodbyes in my life, but I never felt that I honoured them with enough recognition. I wanted to pay homage to those people that have had such profound influence on me and given me so much. In a time of so many goodbyes, I wanted to write something that people could weave into their own personal stories.”

With its laid back grooves, heartfelt chorus and instrumental breakaways, this track paints a perfect sunset mood.

New Music: VENUS GRRRLS

A fantastically bold approach to punk and indie-rock from British outfit VENUS GRRRLS. Immediately arresting, this is a sound that is confident, determined and empowering to listen to.

“‘Hate Me’ is delivered in a story-telling fashion that focuses on unsaid emotions between people, where there is a complete lack of communication about said feelings and happenings. It’s about the internal complexities this can cause, and explores the desire to have clarity and closure. It’s one of our more simplistic songs lyrically, but with the punchiness of the song we wanted there to be an uncomplicated and bold dialect alongside it.’ – GK, Venus Grrrls

Isle of You – Ears Ringing

One of my favourite new acts to emerge from Scandinavia recently, Isle of You return with another almighty electro-pop banger to inject us all with some extra energy for the weekend ahead.

‘Ears Ringing’ gives off flashes of cinematic late night drives in Tokyo, dance floors in the early 00’s and 80’s future nostalgia.

“A post pandemic anthem about dancing off anxiety and just blasting the music (until your ears start ringing).”

New Music: Go Fishing!

A beautifully emotive blend of indie and lo-fi pop from Dutch outfit Go Fishing! The project came to life when the world began shut down in the spring of 2020.

The two lovers decided to move in together, and began collaborating in their living room for fun. Soon enough they realised that they were on to something special.

“During lockdown, we were experiencing a winter dip in ourselves and in others around us. We wrote this song in a moment in time where one looks forward, unknowing of what the near future might bring.”

‘Obra de Arte’ translates to ‘work of art’ and was written as an anthem to implore all people on the margins to see their beauty and magic; women, members of the LGBTQ+ community, people of colour and beyond.
