Dear Sara – Stupid Things

One of my favourite Scandinavian talents of the year, Dear Sara returns today with the beautiful ‘Stupid Things’, finely balancing elements of electronic pop with an essence of melancholy.

The song contemplates Dear Sara’s idea of love, while also opening up about her innermost thoughts, wishes and dreams.

“I hope that the listener can relate to the song no matter if they’re newly in love, just got dumped, single, married or just completely heartbroken.”

The new EP ‘I’m Not That Sad:)’ is out now.

Dear Sara – Do Better

One of my favourite Swedish talents so far this year, Dear Sara returns with a guitar-driven pop bop in the form of ‘Do Better’.

Featuring those distinctive vocals that float so effortlessly over an infectiously catchy melody, you’ll have this song playing in your head all weekend.

“Ever since I was little, I’ve had a very vivid imagination. I’ve always enjoyed writing and coming up with stories. ‘Do Better’ is not about anything I’ve experienced personally, but more of a ‘what if’ kind of thought experiment.”

New Music: Dear Sara

I first featured Swedish talent Dear Sara last year, when she collaborated with JIM OUMA and Alicaì Harley on the single ‘Kids’.

I could hear something special in her voice back then, and now with the launch of new single ‘Something You Should Know’, I can confirm that this lady could very possibly be one of Scandinavia’s biggest pop exports in the future.

A delicate yet distinctive vocal presents itself within a song that contrasts between being haunting and rousing at the same time.

“I could not stop thinking about that strange song I wrote together with Elias [Näslin, co-writer] – a melancholic, complicated declaration of love for my hometown. A tribute to the culture I grew up with. To say that it also counts. We count. We exist. At the same time, I want to tell you about the alienation. About being different in the tiny community. About a constant search for more and a desire to fit in somewhere. It was time for me to own my story.”

JIM OUMA – Kids (feat. Dear Sara + Alicaì Harley)

There’s a lot of interesting back story with this track. JIM OUMA is an outfit who have already crafted songs for likes of Tove Lo, Madonna and Maroon 5, while also behind the band NONONO (who I have featured countless times on here since they are so damn awesome).

They have now collaborated with British dance hall queen Alicaì Harley and newcomer Dear Sara to create a song which immediately grabs your attention; a blend of indie and soft dance-pop that is an instantly loveable sound.

This song is our reflection of the crazy times that we are living in right now. The sample kick-started the beat and from there everything just fell into place. We feel blessed to have the amazing Dear Sara and Alicaì Harley put their vibe on the track. – JIM OUMA
