With summer being well and truly over across much of the world, ‘cuffing season’ has now dawned upon us – and what better song to usher in its arrival than ‘Slow Dance In The Morning’ by acclaimed Canadian artist Jesse Gold.
A mellow and charming slice of melodic R&B, the song is all about finding and appreciating that one special person who enriches your life with their support and love.
Since the release of his debut in 2019, Gold has gone on to become one of Canada’s most promising R&B talents, receiving critical acclaim from the likes of Ones To Watch, Billboard, Euphoria Magazine and American Songwriter.
Now then, tell me… Have you heard anything so sweet as this song in all of 2020? This sound is as much pop as it is a lullaby of love, and features the breezy vocals of Stefani Kimber for added goodness.
“I’ve always liked the idea of writing a love song about two people who refuse to say they’re in love. There are a few lines that act as cheeky excuses for not getting close – ‘I didn’t want to tell you ‘cause I knew that shit would go to your head.’ But writing the song from just that one perspective felt cold. What if both people had their reservations, but had something to bring them together despite them? The first thing that came to mind was alcohol. A little bit of liquid confidence – ‘I take another sip and say ‘You’re one in a million.'” – Jesse Gold
