New Music: Mercedess

A charmingly interesting fusion of sad-pop and indie from Copenhagen.

New Music: Alex Frew

I know so little about this Canadian pop talent – and from what I understand, that’s how he’d like to keep it; for Alex Frew, the music speaks first!

The track is sad-pop at it’s finest, detailing teenage heartbreak and social anxiety in a bewitchingly mellow way.

New Music: Luca Wilding

A hauntingly beautiful dream-folk debut from British talent Luca Wilding. Both intense and delicate in equal measures, this song is something truly ethereal.

“‘Heartachers’ is about learning to let go of what was. It was meant as a kind of call to arms; an invocation of the strength it takes to overcome the mountains of the mind. It tells the simple story of trying to love someone through all their pain and despite their sadness.”

Make sure you listen to the whole song, it evolves into something quite spectacular.

New Music: Duccbod

Lincoln-based 20-year old talent Duccbod creates an eclectic yet minimal indie pop sound that’s full of melancholy, with inspirations as varied as Lil Peep, Sublime, Post Malone through to Nirvana.

“‘Phone Screen’ is essentially highlighting personal issues I have been through regarding toxic mindsets & relationships – ‘Phone Screen’ is a trip through my thought process during these times.”

New Music: Ramverk

Ramverk comprises of Swedes Hugo Therkelson and Alex Maksic, two former professional dancers who met in their youth as students at The Royal Swedish Ballet School. With that in mind, this is a richly atmospheric and textured sound that feels almost more like a creative statement piece than indie-electro.

“Dance and music are two separate forces that both claim their space. It’s always interesting to see how the two worlds connect and getting it just right isn’t always easy.”

New Music: Likeable Lars

Blending so many genres together into a single song shouldn’t work, but somehow this Norwegian duo have managed to create something really special here. A melodic fusion of soul, RnB, bass and pop.

“This single is about being stuck, lost and confused, and wanting to have some sort of medicine to heal.”

New Music: Elko

Crafting a minimal and heartbreaking pop sound, this Canadian talent has already garnered over five million streams independently from just his first five releases.

Taken from the upcoming album ‘Love Was The Reason’, out September 2020.

New Music: Greg Scott

Recently featured on NBC’s Songland writing a song for Bebe Rexha alongside Ryan Tedder, if there is one name to watch out for this week then I would say it’s this one.

To put it simply, Greg Scott is a hugely talented singer and songwriter with a beautifully powerful, soulful voice.

“‘I Still Do’ is an emotional ride through the struggles of keeping a relationship together and alive over time. The song reveals the strengthen love can have while also relating to more than just two lovers.”

New Music: Chris Samuels

Singer songwriter Chris Samuels is a 22-year old, Stockholm-based Swedish-American talent who is a recent Rytmus graduate (a globally renowned Swedish music school that is responsible for talents like Tove Lo and Icona Pop). Added to that, he is also a producer and multi-instrumentalist.

The sound itself is a finely balanced blend of acoustic, blues, brass and subtle indie tones. On the other side though, we also experience a mellow, yet experimental and glitchy production on ‘Separation Anxiety (Interlude)’.

New Music: Matti Roots

Calling Matti Roots a newcomer would be inaccurate – this talent has been on the radar since his acclaimed debut album ‘BeatRoot’ was released back in 2011.

Since then, Matti has been a producer for the likes of Dua Lipa, Kojey Radical, Sampha, and more.

With all that said, this year sees the return of some solo material; and if this sharp piece of neo-soul is anything to go by, 2020 could be very interesting for Matti Roots!
