“We grew up in the 90’s when ‘Blue (da ba dee)’ was a massive hit, when we hear the original it just instantly takes us back to that era. That’s why the idea grew to rework it and create a futuristic and destructed version of the song. It’s pretty cool that we kinda idolised the band (Eiffel 65) when we were kids, and now got in touch with them to approve our rework for releasing it onto our own imprint called Simulated Paradise.”

Another week, another pop gem from Albania. I am starting to feel this little European country has been overlooked lately for its talent. This is a polished slice of pop and RnB delivered in Albanian but still highly enjoyable. No wonder she’s already huge in her homeland…

“Although deep down I knew I wanted to pursue music, it was impossible to trust myself because it felt like no one was trusting me. I battled with the pressures and opinions of those close to me who I respected, but in the end I had to pull the trigger and decide for myself.”

Albania’s got a new Dua Lipa… And you should watch out for her!

You may have heard of Eurovision? If you haven’t then check the link and read more about it. Anyway, Albania has competed a few times (with varying degrees of success), and this week saw the start of their competition to select the song that will go on to represent the country for Eurovision in May 2020.

Tonight saw Elvana Gjata perform her entry, and as you can see – it’s not in the budget or scale of a Dua Lipa production but there’s no denying this kid has something special.

We’ll find out on Sunday night if she was successful in having her performance represent Albania at Eurovision.
