New Music: Alizzz

‘Neon Lights’ is the debut MofoHifi single-track release for emerging Spanish producer, Alizzz. Tough analogy glitch-beats, fuzz bass and glossy synth-bathed rhythms are steeped in the rich sonic textures of Alizzz’s warm melodies.

Influenced by indie, soul, funk, maximalism, dubstep and RnB but with no firm allegiance to one-specific genre, Alizzz is a welcome addition to the growing roster of a label the likes of Phonat and Bobby Tank call home. Check out here.

New Music: Josefina Sanner

New Swedish indie pop produced by Andreas Dahlbäck (who’s done stuff for Anna Ternheim). Check out here.

New Music: TalkFine

This is one of those indescribable pop sounds that makes it very difficult to not get up and shake around a bit. Check out here.

First Listen: Aiden Grimshaw ‘Is This Love’

When I heard this track last week I got really, really excited. I didn’t know back then who sang it. It’s been revealed that it was Aiden Grimshaw. To me, this is everything current pop should be, and more.

Aiden Grimshaw will release his incredible debut single ‘Is This Love’ on June 3 through RCA Records.

The song, written by Aiden, is taken from his debut album ‘Misty Eye’ which will be released on August 13.

The album contains all original material, co-written by Aiden.

Aiden appeared as a finalist in The X Factor in 2010. His audition is one of the most watched on YouTube – a striking a cappella version of Kanye West‘s Gold Digger.

Following his appearance on the show, Aiden, who is 20 years old, moved from his hometown of Blackpool to London and set up a home studio where he spent two years writing and recording demos with various writers and producers.

He found musical soul mate Jarrad Rogers (Lana del Rey, Tinchy Stryder), and the resulting songs make up his debut album.

‘Is This Love’ is an extraordinary, soaring pop anthem exploding with grinding drum & bass beats, and offers a taste of the light and shade, which Aiden explores in ‘Misty Eye’.

New Music: Helena Gutarra

This lady comes from the Swedish version of hit show ‘The Voice’, and her debut track is very delicious. It’s a dirty electro pop track that’s so amazing and fun I could eat it up. Check out here.

New Music: The Lines

A big indie sound with energetic, uplifting beats. This particular track has a certain addictive vibe to it, I just keep wanting to listen to it over and over… Check out here.

New Music: Monument Valley

Monument Valley (ie Londoner Ned Younger) has been causing a bit of a storm of lately when his beautifully Tongues EP & book was released, alongside tours with the likes of Daughter and Benjamin Francis Leftwich. His new single, the darkly tender ‘Your Cover Blown’ is coming out on May 7. Check out here.

New Music: Joyce

I’m very excited about this one. Joyce is the moniker of 21 year old SW London chanteuse, Katherine Fussey. Keep The Lights On is her re-working of a Wave Machines song, transforming the original into a deliciously noirish, electro-pop song. Check out here.

New Music: Miriam Bryant

This has to be the one of the best songs I’ve heard probably all year- its so intense and epic and thrilling all at the same time. English born and Swedish raised Miriam Bryant, 21, found herself secretly visiting the remains of her family’s burnt down house a couple of years ago. Singing herself thrilled by the moody environment, and reminiscing a childhood with constant presence of music, this was when and where she realized she would spend the rest of her life expressing herself through singing and performing.

Over the next years Miriam will have to overcome her aerophobia when being welcomed to the bigger stages.

With childhood friend Victor Rådström, 20, writer & producer, Miriam is now releasing her debut single, “Finders, Keepers”. Check out here.

New Music: Queen of Hearts

I’ve known of Queen of Hearts for some time but never quite felt compelled to feature her, up until now. This is her new single and it’s as pop-perfect as anything can get. Check out here.
