Second time I’ve seen Penguin Prison play in London- he’s so much fun! Loads of girls dancing at the front, I sense he’s becoming a bit of a heart throb for Shoreditch hipsters. I see big things for this popster!
Take That’s ‘Progress’
You can buy it online for £3.99 today from HMV! I didn’t know Stuart Price produced this album- going to give it a listen on the way to work tomorrow and see what all the fuss is about.
New Music: James Blake
Stunning dramatic slow dub with a big voice. The undertones on ‘Limit To Your Love’ are mind blowing. Something about James Blake reminds me of Jamie Woon. Check out here.
New Music: Danielle DeLaite
23-year-old triple threat Danielle DeLaite has been on the stage since the age of three-years-old. She has travailed through the trials and tribulations of failed recording contracts and unscrupulous agencies yet she has never given up on her dream of being a performer. Result? ‘Nothing to Wear’ is a TUNE- specially the Israel remix below.
New Music: Bekele
Some brand new stuff for you here. I love this girl’s look- so hot. New York Based Bekele carries that polished NY club sound well- I forget that I’m stuck on a wet Sunday afternoon in London when ‘Popstitute’ comes on. What is a Popstitute? ‘In the context of the song, a Popstitute is someone who takes charge of the party and seduces the crowd to get up and dance, giving everyone a sort of a musical hard-on’. LOVE IT! With almost half a million hits on her Myspace, she’s not going to be unsigned for very long. Watch out for the upcoming debut EP, “Confessions of a Popstitute”. Check out here.
New tune by Mike Skinner (The Streets)
I’m seeing him live in Brixton next year. Excited.
New Music: Alex Clare
I got a bit excited when I heard this – best of British! ‘Up All Night’ just sounds so so good. Produced by Diplo and Switch. Check out here.
Olive’s ‘You’re Not Alone’: Then & Now
New Music: Viktorious
Up and coming singer from Sweden- contains all the classic Swedish perfectpop ingredients. Check out here.
Björk’s ‘Hyperballad’: Then & Now
New Music: Morning Parade
A beautiful, sexy sound from a group of Essex boys (have you been watching The Only Way Is Essex..? Amazing!) Anway, Under The Stars is so so so good. They compare to Friendly Fires and Delphic a little. Check out here. You can also get a free download on that link called ‘Youth’.
New Music: Jessie J
You can just tell this girl is going to be massive when she gets proper promotion. Would she beat Lily Allen in a fight? Probably not, but she’d probably leave a few nasty scratches… Check out here.
Willow Smith continues invasion
This girl is just FIERCE. What’s better, I’d love to see a kid who’s spent thousands going to a drama school try to match this girl’s level of natural talent. Girl goin huge!
The best music video of the year (or decade)?
I wonder how much this video cost to produce- it’s flawless! Take That rock!
Rock Dust Light Star Deluxe Edition arrived in the post today!
Always a sliver lining at the end of a shitty week! Jamroquai came on my doorstep and gave me a massive smile. It’s sad that you’re into someone that much but it has been yonks since he last released anything. The artwork is sexy as fuck (albeit a paper case, which always makes me feel like an album is in ‘transition’ rather than ‘here to stay’). Going to upload it on iTunes and hit the gym!
Example releases 30 free tracks!
Head on over to The House of Coxhead’s blog now to download 30 tunes (old skool as well as new ones) by Example. I’ve been into Example since my uni days and definately sensed that he was going to blow up.. and he has! Download these tracks and celebrate yea!
Are you ready for Jamiroquai’s new album?
He does the best album covers, don’t you think? Apparently the photo above was taken at the Hard Rock Calling festival that was in London earlier this month (which I was at, so maybe my head will be in there somewhere!). The deluxe edition is in the post right now… Super excited! I really hope I win tickets to his gig at Jazz Cafe next month. That would be the best thing ever!
New Music: Sharks
Nice rockyness. ‘Yours to Fear’ is great. Check out here.
New Music: ANR
