Skrein has been around for a little while in the UK hip hop/ MC scene. His track ‘Reach’ for the Adulthood film is class, and reminds me a lot of Plan B’s first album. Check out here.
New Music: Curry and Coco
French power electropop. Very good. Check out here.
Myles Cooper
I saw this guy featured on the Guardian a while ago and forgot to mention him on here. His music could be compared to a giant glittery rainbow showering little multicoloured plastic hearts across San Francisco on a wet day. Check out here.
New Music: Antics
I’ve been meaning to feature someone called Joe Danger on here for a while, and it now seems that he’s changed his name to Antics… I think you would class this music as classic ‘wonky pop’, no? Check out here.
New Music: Sunday Girl
A crisp sound coming from this London based act. Sexy pop. Check out here.
New Music: Ed Drewett
You’ll recognise this guy from the Professor Green track, ‘I Need You Tonight’. I reckon Ed Drewett will be pretty large this time next year judging from the demo’s on his Myspace. Check out here.
Watch a preview of Kylie Minogue’s ‘Get Outta My Way’
New Music: Frank Turner
Happy and simple British folk. Easy to listen to and fun. Check out here.
New Music: Anoop Desai
A sort of Stevie Wonder/ Ne-Yo/ Justin Timberlake vibe with some Indian beats thrown in when needed. This is so good! Check out here.
Ernesto Neto at Hayward Gallery
Managed to catch the Ernesto Neto show at the Hayward Gallery in it’s last few days. I didn’t know what to expect when I walked in to see loads of oversized fluorescent tights suspended between walls. But that was pretty much all it was- one giant bouncey stretchy room. You could pull and tug anything you wanted to, and touch whatever you felt like touching. It was pretty fun and colourful- check it out before it closes if you can. The gallery was split between this show and something called The New Décor, which was utter shit (from what I could gather, it was all old bits junk grouped together to make ugly bits of furniture- real cutting edge…), but your ticket covers both exhibits. More pics on my Flickr.
Skate Park at Southbank
This skate park has been around for as long as I can remember, but I was never cool enough to play in it when I was younger (probably because I couldn’t skate in the first place!). Check out more pics on my Flickr.
Project Morrinho at Southbank Centre
Work as been extra hideous of late so I’ve taken a few days off to reset my wires and bring some Alfitude back in to my life. Today I went to the Southbank Centre in London to have a poke around this Brazilian season they’ve got on right now. Much as Im beginning to dislike living in London and being a Londoner, this was all still pretty cool. Project Morrinho is a free installation outside the Southbank, made from bits of shit to look like a favela. Check out my Flickr for more pictures.
New Music: I Am Arrows
Great pop band founded by former Razorlight drummer Andy Burrows in June 2009. I defy anyone not to cheer up after listening to this song. They’re playing London next month and I’m going to go see them me thinks. Check out here.
New Music: Pariah
Dubstep with shoegaze. Check out here.
The Count and Sinden
Go to their Myspace right now and listen to ‘Do You Really Want It’ feat Trackademics. Rah.
New Music: Melodica Melody and Me
This is the sort of music you want to hear in a sunny park somewhere with some friends around you. It’s got a soft innocent about it. Check out here.
New Music: Fortune
French electro rock with a bit of indie. Check out here.
