Another week, another ridiculously cool and equally quirky Aiden track unsurfaces. The new EP is out November 26th andwritten by Aiden and Dimitri Tikovoi (Nicola Roberts, Charlie XCX, Mikky Ekko, Goldfrapp, The Horrors, Bebe Black and Paloma Faith).

First Listen: Aiden ‘Satisfy Me’

Is Aiden Grimshaw going through a name change? In any case, nothing this kid goes badly in my view. This is the first track off Aiden’s self titled EP which will be released on November 26th. It’s not chart-topping stuff, but pop needs people like Aiden to shake things up every so often.

When will the world wake up to Aiden Grimshaw!? After releasing one of the best pop albums of the year, Aiden’s back with a new free track, co-wrote with Dimitri Tikovoi, who is best known for his work with Charlie XCX, Mikky Ekko, Goldfrapp, The Horrors, Bebe Black and Paloma Faith. Aiden releases a new 5-track EP of songs in the Autumn.

Live: Aiden Grimshaw Album Launch at Cargo London

Aiden Grimshaw’s brilliant debut album ‘Misty Eye’ is officially out today (click here for my verdict), so an album launch was held in Cargo London to celebrate.

I only managed to get in late to the venue but I was impressed by how well the songs carried themselves live.

Aiden’s awesome, I really hope this album does well and enough people realise how ridiculously talented this kid is!

Aiden Grimshaw’s ‘Misty Eye’ came in the post…

On the surface of it, this album should have followed the usual ex X-Factor, big label, big budget record formula; two or three standout singles (written by a hit-making factory somewhere Scandinavian), spaced out by a dozen or so album fillers.

But it doesn’t.

I can count on my hand the number of times I’ve listened to a pop record without wanting to skip through any tracks.

There’s something so special about Aiden Grimshaw’s ‘Misty Eye’, and even if upon release on August 20th it fails to fly (which is highly unlikely), it will always be one of those records that bucked trend and showed that good music comes from the heart.

Don’t get me wrong- it’s still a pop record and it touches on all the current trends, and is no doubt designed to be universally easy on the ears. But where ‘Misty Eye’ takes daring risks is through experimentation between the tracks and some fearless dedication for influences ranging from Massive Attack to Radiohead to Chase and Status.

There’s a mix of trip hop and drum and bass, alongside that distinctive 90s Hacienda rave vibe. All the tracks are equally brilliant, and the production is so well done, but my standout song is ‘Misty Eye’ itself. This really is one record worth listening to in August…

Just in case you missed Aiden Grimshaw’s new music video…

… here it is. It was revealed earlier this week. Curtain Call is released on the 12th of August through RCA and debut album ‘Misty Eye’ follows on the 20th of August.

First Watch: Aiden Grimshaw ‘Is This Love’

An extraordinary, soaring pop anthem exploding with grinding drum & bass beats. Released on RCA on June 3rd and taken from Aiden Grimshaw’s debut album ‘‘Misty Eye’’ which will be released on August 13th. The album was co-written by Aiden and produced by Jarrad Rogers (Lana del Rey, Tinchy Stryder).

First Listen: Aiden Grimshaw ‘Is This Love’

When I heard this track last week I got really, really excited. I didn’t know back then who sang it. It’s been revealed that it was Aiden Grimshaw. To me, this is everything current pop should be, and more.

Aiden Grimshaw will release his incredible debut single ‘Is This Love’ on June 3 through RCA Records.

The song, written by Aiden, is taken from his debut album ‘Misty Eye’ which will be released on August 13.

The album contains all original material, co-written by Aiden.

Aiden appeared as a finalist in The X Factor in 2010. His audition is one of the most watched on YouTube – a striking a cappella version of Kanye West‘s Gold Digger.

Following his appearance on the show, Aiden, who is 20 years old, moved from his hometown of Blackpool to London and set up a home studio where he spent two years writing and recording demos with various writers and producers.

He found musical soul mate Jarrad Rogers (Lana del Rey, Tinchy Stryder), and the resulting songs make up his debut album.

‘Is This Love’ is an extraordinary, soaring pop anthem exploding with grinding drum & bass beats, and offers a taste of the light and shade, which Aiden explores in ‘Misty Eye’.
