Eden Rain – Crashmat

Track of the week. Eden Rain is back with a stunning new single called ‘Crashmat’. Co-written by fellow rising starlet SOFY, this track looks at how some people will care so much for others that they end up neglecting their own needs and feelings.

Aside from its thoughtful lyricism, this song’s production really showcases some of the best of what the UK alt-pop scene offers right now. Elaborating on the inspiration behind ‘Crashmat’, Eden says:

“I think it really hits on that feeling of being stretched too thin, right? It’s like you’re always on call, trying to be everything for everyone, and somewhere along the way, you forget to take care of yourself. Its about how you can love someone and want to help but also not really knowing how to.”

Eden’s music has been streamed more than 700k times since April this year and has received praise from the likes of FLEX and Far Out. You can catch the artist performing at London’s Moth Club on the 12th November—tickets here.

Eden Rain – Great Nothing

British artist Eden Rain has just unveiled one of her most moving releases, called ‘Great Nothing’.

Inspired by a friendship falling apart, the song is not only lyrically powerful, but also beautifully produced. In equal measures, the track is epic and cinematic, yet also feels fragile and vulnerable. Rain explains:

“I wrote ‘Great Nothing’, about the rise and fall of a frienduationship – which is a word I’ve (maybe?) made up to describe the experience of a friend confess feelings for you and everything gets all weird and messy and tangly. I feel like when Conway and I wrote this song it was like putting all my frustrations of every friendship that went off-piste or person I had liked that hadn’t liked me back, or had but at the wrong time, into a meat grinder and … out came Great Nothing. It’s like the opposite of a great love, it’s the mourning of the potential of a relationship and the confusion and the angst to put everything back where it was.. and all the sinking feelings that come with it.”

To date, Rain’s music has amassed more than half a million streams on Spotify. We expect this artist to evolve into one of the UK’s biggest indie-pop newcomers, so keep her on your radars.

Eden Rain – Crumb

We’ve lost count of how many times we’ve featured British starlet Eden Rain, but with such a strong run of releases lately, we can’t help but share another superb track with you.

Intensely captivating in tone, ‘Crumb’ is taken from Rain’s ‘Gutter Vision’ EP (out 19th May), and treats listeners to an intricately produced fusion of indie and alt-pop.

“I’ve always had a strong link to crumbs, I’m always covered with them, creating them, eating them, but this song was kind of a different link. I wrote ‘Crumb’ with Jonny Breakwell in his lovely fairy light lit room and as I was writing about a situation I had been involved in in the past, I sort of realised that I had been willingly lapping up the bits of a attention that someone had given me, like a little dog sat under the table waiting for crumbs. I clocked that when writing the verse so it made sense that the chorus would go in on the crumb metaphor. Whewww… that day was like a free therapy session and every time I’ve played the song since then I think about how obvious the situation was before it clicked in my head. I’m a girl that likes knowing how I stand with people but I realised that no matter how hard I tried there were some situations and some people that just couldn’t or wouldn’t reciprocate the love I was trying to give them. Anyway I’m so very proud of this song and it’s so fun to sing and dance along to. It’s the year of the Crumb!”

‘Crumb’ was created alongside acclaimed producer and engineer Jonny Breakwell, who has also worked with the likes of PinkPantheress and Goldlink. Rain plays a sold-out show at London’s Folklore Hoxton on the 22nd May, but you can get on the waiting list by clicking here.

Eden Rain – Bed (For The Year)

Much-acclaimed rising UK talent Eden Rain is back with another stellar new single to remind us all as to why this artist is one to watch.

Lifted from forthcoming debut EP ‘Gutter Vision’ (out in May), ‘Bed (For The Year)’ showcases Rain’s captivating vocals as they glide over a production that fuses alternative pop with indie.

“About 10 years ago, when I was in high school, I was given a book called ‘The Woman Who Went To Bed For A Year’. It was written by Sue Townsend and it sat on my bookshelf for a really long time and I didn’t actually read it, I just always stared at the cover of the book from my bed. When I was sad, (classic) for an extended period of time (depressed), I found that I couldn’t stay away from my bed. I read the book then because I was like ‘ugh, wish I could be in bed for a year’, and it’s about a married woman who’s twin children move away from home and she goes to bed for a year and doesn’t leave. And so that’s what the book is and what the song is based on, in a nutshell. I return to the book (and the bed) when life gets hard and I wanted to write an ode to that.”

Alongside the release of the EP, Eden plays London’s Folklore Hoxton on the 22nd May 2023 – tickets can be found here.

With more than 200k catalogue streams on Spotify alone, as well as tastemaker praise from internationally respected outlets, 2023 might be Rain’s biggest year yet.

Eden Rain – Oh God

London-based, Leeds-born artist Eden Rain returns with a superb piece of indie-pop through her new single, ‘Oh God’.

Created alongside emerging producer Josef Page, the song presents listeners with an honest insight into the life of someone who suffers from overthinking and anxiety. Elaborating further on the lyricism, Rain explains:

“At the very best of times, the thoughts in my brain are random, chaotic and spontaneous. I am, by my own definition, pretty unhinged . Therefore when I found a doodle in my notebook during my session with Josef that said ‘Oh god maybe i should take more drugs’. I thought.. maybe I should write a song about that. The song is sort of about navigating life and relationships as a chronic over-thinker/ anxious girly who is easily overwhelmed. I think the lyrics kind of reflect the darting random thoughts that I have a lot.”

The track serves as a taster to Rain’s forthcoming debut EP, ‘Gutter Vision’, which is out soon.

Eden Rain – Being Human

With support from the likes of BBC Introducing, DAZED, The Line Of Best Fit, Wonderland, Fashionably Early, and Before The Data, Eden Rain has firmly established herself as a new artist to watch.

Today she returns with new single ‘Being Human’, which was produced by emerging talent JONAH (who has worked alongside Jorja Smith and Giggs on their recent collaboration). On the song, she says:

“It’s a classic ‘missing you’ song – all the late nights and lying around and getting drunk- all the best parts of being human and being comfortable with someone. It’s about peeing with the door open.”
