New Music: Lucky Lou

Track of the week. It’s been a little while since we shared with you some premium Scandinavian pop, so we’re delighted to introduce you to Swedish starlet Louise Lindberg, aka Lucky Lou.

Already an accomplished songwriter who has worked with the likes of Zara Larsson and Astrid S, ‘Space’ marks the artist’s first foray as a soloist. And as to be expected, the track is a pop masterpiece.

Lifted from an upcoming debut EP (out in June), the song was inspired by the demise of a cherished friendship. The artist explains:

“Throughout making the EP, I had quite a few fallouts with people in my surroundings, and I felt overstimulated and taken for granted. The song is about the sorrow of breaking up with someone close to you, whom you love and have known for a very long time.”

It won’t come as a surprise to know that the track was written and produced by Lindberg herself. We’re excited to see what comes next!

New Music: Rose Hotel

Rose Hotel is a musical project created by singer and songwriter Jordan Reynolds, who is already an accomplished musician hailing from Atlanta.

Today sees the release of a mesmerising new single, called ‘Fruit Tree’. This track has stood out to us, thanks to its refreshingly unique style of sound.

Serving as a taster to the artist’s upcoming debut album ‘A Pawn Surrender’ (out 7th June), the song treats listeners to a heady fusion of indie, rock and shoegaze. Elaborating further on the track, Jordan says:

“I wrote ‘Fruit Tree’ towards the end of the album writing process — a time where I was thinking very much about what I wanted from music and my ‘career’ and if that dream was even possible anymore. I wanted to personify the temptation of success in music as something sensual and lusted over, which brought up the image of the forbidden fruit. The lyrics are written from the perspective of the Fruit Tree, but with the tantalizing voice of an alluring woman. Sort of a ‘Be Careful What You Wish For’ tune.’

Jordan has been steadily building a name for herself for some time now, and has performed alongside notable alt acts like Faye Webster and Neighbor Lady.

New Music: Custie

Hailing from Ontario is rising talent Custie, who is rapidly gaining a name for himself as one of Canada’s most interesting newcomers.

The atmospheric new single ‘ON E, AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN’ is one of the bravest releases of the week, in our opinion. The song masterfully incorporates downtempo indie with dark pop, while the lyrics covertly address the topic of addiction. The resulting sound feels haunting yet ethereal, and sets a beautiful scene for the artist’s captivating vocals to shine through.

“‘E’ is an attempt to stylize and leave much of the song up to listener interpretation. By giving things concrete names, it makes everything very topical. I always like to find a way to have my listeners move with me by presenting a song with a certain kind of allure in mystery. Hence the ‘E’ – it stands for anything you’d like.”

New Music: EĐĐIE

EĐĐIE is the musical project of American singer and songwriter Eddie Tamanini. The artist recently released a powerful new album called ‘Grieving Hour’, of which ‘Wish I Hated You’ is lifted from.

The song presents listeners with an energising blend of classic rock, indie, and pop and is inspired by feelings of pain and tolerance. The track is intense, heartfelt, and incredibly moving to experience.

“‘Wish I Hated You’ is about the feeling of wanting to let go of someone who hurt you, but you just can’t because they meant so much to you.”

New Music: Rinjin

Rinjin is an exciting electronic project from Norway, consisting of musicians Christoffer “Chris Le Pop” and Frøy.

The duo has just released a charming disco-pop bop called ‘Just us’, which we’re quite sure you’ll fall in love with.

Sonically, the production serves as a reflection of Rinjin’s admiration for genre-bending Scandinavian outfits like Røyksopp, Todd Terje and Annie. Lyrically, the song encapsulates the feeling of wanting to be loved and our desires to escape our troubles.

With such a strong debut under their belts, it’s likely that Rinjin will garner a lot of fans very quickly!

M Wagner (aka Matthew Wagner) is an electronic music artist currently based in Brooklyn, New York.

New single ‘Never Gone’ is already one of our favourite songs this spring, thanks to its captivating beat structure and mesmerising soundscape. While electronic music might not be to everyone’s taste, this track presents listeners with a hypnotic charm that is impossible to ignore.

New Music: Seth Gauton

Track of the week. We’re excited to be sharing with you a hugely promising newcomer from the UK called Seth Gauton.

Debut single ‘Right This Time’ serves as a masterclass in indie-pop, thanks to its anthemic melody, thoughtful production and sincere vocals.

On its relatable lyricism, Seth explains that the song is about ‘exploring the realisation that you’re losing perspective in an argument but your stubbornness hinders your ability to apologise.’

The artist cites Sam Fender, Holly Humberstone and Damien Rice as his influences, and with such a strong debut under his belt, we can only assume that he too will become a big name very soon.

Listeners can look forward to the release of four more singles in the coming months.

‘I Know’ is Emilie Sofie’s debut single, and was inspired by the realisation that a relationship which was seemingly perfect begins to fall apart.

Despite it’s polished production and finessed vocals, the powerful lyrics hit hard and feel raw in emotion. This is pop at it’s best.

If you’ve yet to come across New York artist Matty Marz then we’ve got a treat for you.

The rising musician has just released an infectiously catchy (and refreshingly eccentric) electro-pop anthem called ‘Lacazette’, and we’re certain you’ll love it as much as we do.

“It’s a self-empowerment bop cloaked in lush instrumentation. I hope that ‘Lacazette’ will have the listener feeling like they can conquer the world and shoot that winning goal in ANY situation.”

Alongside the release of the single, Matty has also unveiled some vivid visuals which add an extra dimension to an already captivating song.

New Music: V3LV

Toronto has a new talent to be proud of, and their name is V3LV. Pronounced velv, this singer and songwriter crafts melodic sounds that fuse synth with indie and alt-pop.

New single ‘NERVE’ was inspired feelings of unrequited love, and presents listeners with a sound that somehow feels both melancholic and energising in equal measures. On the lyrics, V3LV explains:

“So, this song is about dealing with the reality of someone not being able to be in a relationship with you even though you’re infatuated with them. You guys are still a ‘thing’, but not quite as you imagined. The story follows along the relationship, how crude it was, and how it played out.”

Despite only releasing a handful of singles, the musician has already amassed thousands of streams online. We think this artist has a ton of potential, so be sure to keep them on your radars!

Hailing from Belfast is rising alt-pop musician Still Searching, who has just released a stunning new single called ‘My Therapist Says’.

There’s something very special about Tom Fleur’s style of work, and once you press play to ‘Be Still My Beating Heart’ you’ll realise why.

American artist ANTi might be a new name to most of us, but he is already an accomplished and sought-after producer who has garnered a solid reputation within Nashville’s emerging pop scene. In fact, ANTi was credited as a producer and/ or songwriter on no less than 17 songs in 2023 alone, which is pretty impressive.

He steps out of the shadows today to treat us all to his own take on the genre, with the release of ‘Glass House’. An expertly crafted electro-pop anthem, this single sets the tone for an upcoming debut album which listeners can expect to enjoy in the near future. We can’t wait to see what’s next for this hugely talented musician!

Sometimes the most impactful pop songs can also happen to be the simplest in style, and this can be said of Tyler Meacham’s new single, ‘dream house’.

We keep these big little dreams tucked away somewhere out of mind until we either find ourselves in them or find ourselves without them.”

NY-based Bostonian artist brooke might just be one of our favourite newcomers. At only 20-years of age, this promising musician is already impressing us with her bold and punchy style of alt-pop.

Energising new single ‘All I Ever Wanted’ serves as a taster to the singer’s upcoming debut ‘Away Today’ EP, which is out later in the summer. Elaborating on the song’s message, brooke says:

“This single is for artists that don’t fit the mold of industry expectations, but knowing that we never wanted what they did in the first place. We were never them. That’s a scary realization at first, going against the grain and charting your own path, but this single tackles that in a really playful way. It makes me realize a lot of the ‘career advice’ I’ve been given isn’t relevant to my goals as an artist at all. So I’m like, why tf am I even listening to you right now? And so making this single was about toying with that. Knowing that you have something really valuable, acknowledging that other people don’t see it yet, but not waiting for them to catch up. And that’s something I think a lot of Gen-Z artists can relate to.”

We’re very excited to be sharing with you a bright new indie talent from Sweden called john hugo.

This promising singer and songwriter creates an impressive pop-rock sound that feels classic yet fresh in style – which makes sense when we learn that his work is influenced by the likes of The 1975 and Alexander 23, as well as Fleetwood Mac and even Prince.

Anthemic new single ‘Friends’ has just been released, and showcases the artist’s brilliant potential. Speaking on the track, hugo explains:

‘Friends’ is a deeply personal song about the uncertainty and confusion that develops when a relationship ends and you lie to yourself and to the other person that ‘we can still be friends’.
