SHY Martin – l.o.v.e

TRACK OF THE WEEK

Alfitude has featured SHY Martin so many times that we should just call ourselves her biggest fans at this point. With that in mind, it won’t come as a surprise to know that our Track of the Week comes from this hugely acclaimed Swedish artist and songwriter.

‘l.o.v.e’ weaves elements of alt-pop with indie and adds a touch of shoegaze into the mix, creating a sound that feels raw and organic, while the melody evolves from understated verses to anthemic choruses.

SHY’s next full-length record is due for release next year. Oh, and fun fact: to date, SHY’s work as a songwriter has amassed her more than six billion streams. Beat that.

SHY Martin – Feelings

The weekend has just gotten a little better after listening to SHY Martin’s new single ‘Feelings’.

A low-key pop banger, this track softly builds up before the chorus hits mild shots of euphoria into your blood stream.

“I was going through some major changes when we wrote ‘Feelings’ and felt extremely lost and exhausted. I wasn’t sure I wanted to release more music, so I stopped writing for myself for a while, but after writing this song I found myself listening to the demo every time I was working out or on my way to the studio. The lyrics were pretty much about what I was going through and had been feeling for a long time. It’s about the moment you realise you’re a few words from breaking something that means a lot to you because you’re caught up in feelings”

SHY Martin – Break With Me

Regular visitors to Alfitude will know that there is no introduction needed for Swedish artist SHY Martin. I have been a huge fan of this talent for quite some years, and still she never fails to impress with her releases.

Now back with the stellar ‘Break With Me’, this song looks at the mixed emotions that arise when two people become strangers, and serves as the debut to her new record label, SHY Recordings.

“For the first time in years, I have spent a lot of time with myself and taken the space to reflect. I have thought a lot about how these strange times we are in have changed so many relationships, some that have become stronger, and others that have broken down. We started writing ‘Break With Me’ one summer evening in the car on the way home from a lake, but I relate to it now more than ever.”
