New Music: Bea Stewart

Representing some of the finest new emerging talent from Northern Ireland is singer and songwriter Bea Stewart. Today marks the artist’s debut with the release of ‘Screaming At Traffic’.

This folk-inspired acoustic song presents listeners with a beautifully emotive sound that features Stewart’s heartfelt and honest lyricism. Elaborating further on the inspiration behind the track, Stewart says:

“I wrote ‘Screaming At Traffic’ at a time when I was frustrated at my younger self for not acting on feelings I had for a friend because I was too scared. I was trying to process this without letting it turn into regret – sometimes those missed chances in life come around to teach us a lesson, so we don’t make the same mistake when it really matters. I think it’s quite a universal experience to suppress feelings out of fear of rejection or ruining a friendship so I hope this song means something to someone else too.”

Stewart plays London’s West Hampstead Arts Club on the 22nd September, with free tickets available here… So be sure to catch this rising starlet before the rest of the UK does!

New Music: Blair West

Hailing from New York is songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Blair West.

New single ‘Rabbit Holes’ marks West’s second release to date, and showcases a beautifully delicate fusion of dreamy folk, indie and acoustic pop.

Through its refreshingly minimalist style of production, the track delivers a sound that feels warm, soothing and emotive in tone, while the lyricism serves as beautiful expression of love.

“This song brings together the most personal pieces of me as an artist. The lyrics, which were some of the first I ever wrote, originally lived in a poem of mine: ‘if you leave me, I’m coming to.’ It was meant as a cheeky expression of my love for my fiancé – maybe a little creepy, maybe a little extra, but most definitely romantic. As if ‘hopelessly devoted to you’ was remixed with a bit of sass and enigma.”

West’s debut release, ‘All This To Say’ has already garnered over 50k streams on Spotify, and can be heard here.

New Music: SpaceAcre

SpaceAcre is the musical project of UK-based artists Phoebe Little and Jas Scott, who collectively create dreamy pieces of alternative pop that feel dark, atmospheric and captivating.

New single ‘Chemicals’ is the first track to be taken from the duo’s forthcoming EP, and showcases a beautifully constructed production that feels fragile and melancholic – yet also powerful and intense.

“It’s about how chemicals can affect someone’s brain, whether they are naturally occurring or not. It has a multi-layered meaning as we all have stuff that we’re addicted to. Often when writing, we’ll be thinking about a subject, maybe something quite personal, and I’ll just get Jas to rant about it for a while. I’ll then note down the interesting bits and we write the lyrics from there.” – Phoebe Little, SpaceAcre

SpaceAcre will perform at London’s Paper Dress Vintage on the 25th October – tickets can be found here. The duo’s upcoming EP is scheduled for release early next year.

New Music: Elron Gardy

Photo / Isaac Gracie

Today marks the debut for a mysterious yet refreshingly unique new musical project called Elron Gardy.

‘Reflex and Movement’ finds this illusive British alternative-pop outfit addressing the evolution of humans, as well as their relationship with planet Earth.

“This is song is about how mankind has convinced itself that it has surpassed evolution and that we are better, or at least above, all other things that live on our planet – when in reality we are simply just another species that roams it. By denying our animal instincts we have moved further towards an existence of rootlessness, loneliness and anxiety. With our lack of care for the things that gave us life, that life will inevitably, at some point, be taken from us. But perhaps without humans the world would be better off…”

Elron Gardy will play their first live show at London’s Laylow on 10th November 2022 – tickets available here.

New Music: S.C.A.B.

If you’re craving for some fresh indie rock, then emerging four-piece outfit S.C.A.B. might well be one of your new favourite groups.

Today’s release of new single ‘Tuesday’ showcases some of the finest work from this rising Brooklyn-based band.

Emotive, pensive and melancholic in tone, the track looks into the struggles of forming meaningful connections:

“Tuesday” is a song about disillusionment with trying to form meaningful connections, and searching aimlessly for something worthwhile. There’s a scene from Seinfeld where Newman says ‘Tuesday has no feel. Monday has a feel, Friday has a feel…’ and that type of unspecific, hard to pinpoint vibe is what I wanted to express with the lyrics… you’re trying to get through the week, find any ounce of happiness to cling on to (sitting in the sun, feeling it burning your skin), looking for something but not finding it.” – Sean Camargo, S.C.A.B.

S.C.A.B.’s debut project, ‘Beauty & Balance’ was released in 2019, while a sophomore LP is scheduled for release soon.

New Music: Hunter Daily

Upon pressing play to Hunter Daily’s ‘Die In LA’, you might be surprised (and impressed) to learn that this is only the artist’s debut.

A truly outstanding introduction to a promising and talented newcomer, the song serves as a masterclass in melancholic pop. Executive produced by none other than Jenna Andrews herself, the track encompasses Daily’s feelings about living in Los Angeles:

“‘Die In LA’ is about being from LA and never feeling like I can leave or see other places because of the industry I’ve chosen. It’s juxtaposition of hating LA and the scene and not feeling like I fit in, but its also where I come from; I love LA just the same. I don’t want it to be the only thing I ever experienced at the end of the day. Everyone else gets to make that leap to follow their dreams and come here to LA or wherever to follow their dreams, but when you’re from here and in this industry, you’re forced to stay put. This song is about my longing to see more of the world and escape some of the monotony that is LA. This song was written as a kind of love/hate letter to LA because it has been my home my whole life. The essence of the city is such a part of me and I wanted the video to capture that, and I think it does.”

Fans can look forward to two further singles from Daily, both of which will be released before the end of the year.

New single ‘Lazy Sunday’ was inspired by the infatuations that we can go through when we first meet someone – even to the point where we temporarily forgive the incompatibilities.

“I get myself entangled in a lot unhealthy and mis-matched situation-ships and more often than not it all comes down to that feeling when it’s a Sunday, you’re hiding away in someone’s room, and you’re both happy to pretend that things really could work out between you – or ignore the fact that they won’t.”
