Track of the week. A connect between lo-fi beats and a strong essence of emotion is how I would describe this sound. If there’s one pop name to look out for this year, it’s these kids. So damn good.

Punchy pop and textured beats from a new British talent who’s still only 17-years old.
“Written from the perspective of somebody that is adamant they will not be changed, the song is essentially a sarcastic apology to the other person, featuring the recurring rhetorical question, “whoever told you I’d be good for you?”

Doses of melancholy are intertwined with subtle hip hop beats from this North-London talent. It’s a powerful sound that delivers intensity in a very thoughtful way.
“4 Siblings is a homage, and a letter of reassurance to family. It’s for siblings where the conditions weren’t ready for them to come into this world. It’s for siblings that are not blood related, but are connected through the electromagnetic forces of spirit. It’s a song that moves on. It encompasses a blueness but also an acceptance, and finally a message of gratitude, love and comfort in that no matter what happens, it’s alright.”

It’s always great to feature home-grown talent on this site. Enny hails from South-East London and has one of those unique qualities as an artist whereby she manages to encompass a finessed vocal with a strong sense of confidence and self empowerment. I’m so hyped for this kid.

A polished blend of RnB and sad-pop, delivered with doses of emotion.
“The story of Minute is that of a couple that wants to spend more time together, but are slowly drifting apart. Both Siera and I sing in this song to bring this story to life and put everything together.”

NIIVA creates a charming mix of RnB and pop with a sense of sharpness and simplicity, while conveying the complications of modern romance.
“Relationships are a two-way street. I hope this song helps people to feel understood and recognise that they’re not alone. Sometimes we find ourselves with someone who we know isn’t right for us. I get it, I’ve been there.”

While already crafting a name for himself in native Denmark, this is a talent that is well worth sharing with the rest of the world. A blend of pop and soft indie tones create a sound that is both easy to enjoy while also carries a deeper sense emotion.
Taken from the sophomore album ‘Hope, Fear & Fashion’ which is out soon.

Growing up in the small town of Torrington, Connecticut, this talent has an effortlessly cool and mellow brand of pop which is too infectious not to enjoy.
“I’d play on the bathroom floor because of the acoustics. Writing my feelings down to music, all I did was play guitar and sing, every hour of every day.”

As far as debut’s go, here’s one of the finest for this month. A British talent who delivers an RnB vibe with essences of the 00’s for good measure. Punchy lyrics and confident vocals make this one kid to watch out for.

Alt-pop with a balanced fusion of playfulness and melancholy, from a new Berlin-based talent.
Taken from the upcoming ‘Blue’ EP, arriving this summer.

Nashville feels like a hotbed for American electropop talent these days, and Essy does the town proud with her fresh blend of synth and soft dance beats.
“This song is about finding the confidence within yourself to walk away. Sometimes it’s the hardest thing you’ll ever have to do, because it feels like nothing is in your control, but you can’t change people and you can’t continue to be walked on until they change, either.”

There is a unique sense of heartfelt tenderness from this Glaswegian singer-songwriter’s sound. An emotional melody sung in the purest form that tells a story of lost love.
“‘On My Mind’ is a note to an old lover. Almost as a process of moving on for myself by finally being able to forgive myself for a situation but also letting her know that I will always think of her.”

Powerfully delivered alternative indie pop.
“Daytime is a rediscovery of my own voice and power.”

Finessed Swedish pop with strong elements of RnB.
“I wrote it when i lived in London and felt a little lost and scared about the changes that had just taken place. Now when I look back – I guess it was all good stuff that I was afraid to lose.”
SPOTIFY PROFILE

Heartfelt lyrics and a warm indie-pop sound make for quite a wonderful release from Australian talent Nick Ward.
“‘Aubrey Plaza’ is about my recent experiences in a new relationship, and how I can finally express my queerness and femininity with another person. The song is about being loved for exactly who you are, and the way relationships wear you down to your most vulnerable state.”
