Arlo Parks – Beams

“It’s about the pain of feeling discarded, or feeling like the oldest hurt that you carry around like a stone is a burden not just to you but to everyone around you – the worst fear. It’s about numbness and fight, flight or freeze. But it’s also about trying to (slowly but surely) want better for yourself and realise that you are loveable as a whole.”

Upcoming album ‘Ambiguous Desire’ is out 3rd April 2026. Pre-order here.

TRACK OF THE WEEK

“At its core ‘2SIDED’ is about yearning and tension. It’s about being struck by a bolt of desire and building up the courage to put language to that feeling, to make it real.”

Arlo Parks – Creep (Radiohead Cover)

London’s soul gem Arlo Parks has created a stunning cover of Radiohead’s ‘Creep’.

The visuals are directed by Tom Dream as part of his upcoming short film ‘Shy Radicals’, a portrait of Hamja Ahsan and and his book and satirical manifesto, which calls for all introverted people to unify and overthrow extrovert-supremacy.

BBC Sound of 2020 announced

Here we go again… BBC Sound of has just released it’s longlist for 2020 and I honestly feel this is the first time in years that they have had a list which is actually relevant… Anyhow – here’s the lucky kids (along with the first time most of these were featured on Alfitude):

My money’s on Yungblud to win this, but my heart is with Arlo Parks and Celeste. The shortlist and eventual winner will be announced in January 2020.
