Brother Leo – Hello Life

Described by Music Week as ‘a non-conformist creating his own lane in the world of pop music‘, Swedish pop royalty Brother Leo has finally unveiled the first part of new album ‘PoP Poetry’ – and with it the release of ‘Hello Life’.

“In a way I’d say ’Hello Life’ is about me searching for answers, both inside and outside of my body. A search that in many ways became the start of Brother Leo and a more unafraid, playful, creative freedom. So it just felt right to open the album with that song. Some songs just come to you in an almost magical way. ‘Hello Life’ is definitely one of them.”

The album introduces star-studded collaborations with the likes of Neiked, Fat Boy Slim, Björn Yttling (Peter Bjorn and John), Fred Gibson (Fred again…), London Community Gospel Choir and Steve Mac.

‘PoP Poetry’ [pt.1] is out now.

Watch: Brother Leo – Hallelujah

Brother Leo’s latest release now comes with visuals directed by Sashinski and was filmed in England’s Southend, shortly before lockdown began.

“Me and Sasha wanted to create a dark and restrained visual for Hallelujah, that in a symbolic way expressed the struggle in trying to make peace with the painful fact that certain things just can’t be fixed, no matter how hard you try.”

Brother Leo – Hallelujah

“’Hallelujah’ is about broken illusions in a broken world. It’s that moment of realisation when you know you have to make peace with something that just can’t be fixed. I wouldn’t call myself religious, but this song came out almost like a prayer. It was a cry for help in a hopeless situation. In the end religion didn’t save me, but neither did the shrink or the pills that he gave me. This song gave me an escape and some kind of piece. Like so many times before, music was the answer.”

Brother Leo – Barcelona

“The song is about 2 intense weeks I had in Barcelona years ago, experiencing a lot of things for the first time. 2 weeks that in many ways made me grow up I guess, maybe a little bit too fast. I wanted to try to capture those moments and memories in this song both lyrically but also in the soundscape. To tell this story sonically I wanted the soundscape to have some kind of cinematic and organic vibe to it and dynamically just letting it grow. In short ’Barcelona’ Is about love and loss, and realizing that nothing is forever. I think a lot of people can relate to this and hopefully it will bring back some good memories”.
