One of my favourite British artists to come out of 2012 has been Josh Kumra. This is his new video, and the track is pretty special. I just wish people were a bit more appreciative of experimental pop like this. His time will come though when this is released in January 2013- I’m sure of it.

Free Download: Josh Kumra ‘The Soho Sessions EP’
Earlier this week Josh Kumra ran a special twitter initiative to allow fans to get their profile pictures featured on a limited edition 7″ of his debut single ‘Helicopters & Planes’. Once the cover was full it unlocked a free three track acoustic EP, ‘The Soho Sessions’.
The EP was unlocked in 24 hours and is now available to all to download free here.

Josh Kumra is one of the most exciting kids to come out of 2012 so far for me, and his magnificent debut single Helicopters & Planes (with U.S.G member K Koke guesting) is amazing. Produced by the man of the moment Naughty Boy, it sees Josh deliver a slice of distinctly UK hip hop soul.

I get so excited when I hear new UK talent like this. I really don’t see this former backing singer for Omar and Rhian Benson not making it into the mainstream! She’s been building a name for herself over the past year covering popular songs by the likes of Lil’ Wayne and Wretch 32, and by releasing two singles, ‘Heartbreaker’ and ‘Save You’. Now she’s released mixtape with a cover of Labrinth‘s ‘Last Time’ as well as six new tracks tracks of her own. Check out here.
