I quite like this new single from Swedish pop lady Miriam Bryant.
The debut album ‘Raised in Rain’ is released on the 25th of March in Scandinavia, and ‘Push Play’ is on heavy rotation on Swedish radio as we speak (it’s all I’ve been hearing to on the radio in Malmö this weekend).
What a long way Miriam Bryant’s come from being featured what only seems like yesterday. She’s been touted as “Sweden’s biggest breakthrough artist of 2013” by Sweden’s biggest magazine Aftonbladet, as well as landing top 40 on the German airplay chart’s and #11 on the club-charts with her debut single “Finders Keepers”.
Now she’s got a new single and it’s predictably brilliant. It’s already out in Scandinavia and I’m pretty sure it’ll be out worldwide soon. I’m so excited with this lady…
I started the Random List last year, and it was pretty fun for me to do so I figured I’d carry the tradition on for another year. So here, I present to you the winners of some random, and not so random, categories that have come out of 2012.
Biggest debut to come out of nowhere
Miriam Bryant. This category also covers best track of the year too, I guess (which I’m sharing with Beatrice Eli, below). I still remember reading the email introducing to her. I really didn’t expect to hear what I did. It picked up with other blogs too. In terms of debut releases, this really is as big as they come.
Best gig of the year
This one’s a tie between Nicki Minaj and Flo Rida. Unnecessary cameos from both of these on what otherwise are pretty good pop tracks (like above) have led me to just really not like either one of these. I know that will upset a lot of people, but sorry. Enough.
Scariest but fiercest track from Scandinavia
This one goes to Beatrice Eli, one of the standout artists of the year for me. I should also point out that this is my joint favourite track of the year, along with Miriam Bryant (above). It’s so hard to believe this is one of her first tracks. Can’t wait to hear new tracks!
Most exciting big-label signing
Jetta. Expect to hear more over the coming months from this lady.
Most underrated album of the year
Biggest u-turn of the year
Marina & The Diamonds. Actually, it’s not so much of a u-turn as an appreciation for her. Rarely do I moan about artists on this site, but Marina was behind one of my biggest whines back at the start of 2011. That post got me some pretty nasty feedback from some. This year though, her second attempt at ‘being bigger’ paid off when Primadonna was released and topped the charts. Good for her.
I can’t tell you how excited I am about sharing this. It’s a new acoustic track from one of the standout newcomers to come out of Sweden this year (in my opinion).
I absolutely love this song by Miriam Bryant. It’s so raw and big and epic. If you do just one thing today, share this link with everyone you know because this is one piece of talent that just has to eplode!
This has to be the one of the best songs I’ve heard probably all year- its so intense and epic and thrilling all at the same time. English born and Swedish raised Miriam Bryant, 21, found herself secretly visiting the remains of her family’s burnt down house a couple of years ago. Singing herself thrilled by the moody environment, and reminiscing a childhood with constant presence of music, this was when and where she realized she would spend the rest of her life expressing herself through singing and performing.
Over the next years Miriam will have to overcome her aerophobia when being welcomed to the bigger stages.
With childhood friend Victor Rådström, 20, writer & producer, Miriam is now releasing her debut single, “Finders, Keepers”. Check out here.
