Elinborg – Blood

Today’s release of ‘Blood’ by Faroese artist Elinborg has really blown us away. It’s been a minute since we’ve come across something this flawless from the Nordic region.

It’s electronic pop at its most elevated. The song is dark, intense, and cinematic and is a reworking of an original version by the artist called ‘Blóð’, now with English lyrics. Elinborg explains:

“I chose to release an English version of my song ‘Blood’ not only because it holds a very special place in my heart, but also because I wanted to explore how my sound might change when I switch languages. I’ve always been intrigued by different languages, and even though Faroese has a special place in my heart—and I’ll absolutely continue writing in it—I think it’s important to grow and evolve as an artist. That’s why I wanted to try releasing English versions as well: to reach a more international audience, but also to add new colors to my artistic world.”

If you love this sound as much as we do, then make sure you explore the artist’s latest album, ‘Í Ævir’, over on Spotify.

Ocean Tisdall – Jealous

Irish artist Ocean Tisdall might have just written one of the most beautiful breakup songs of the year, the incredibly moving ‘Jealous’.

We’ve all been through it – when a relationship falls apart and we watch the person who was once such a big part of our lives move on, while we ourselves struggle to come to terms. Ocean explains:

‘‘I wrote ‘Jealous’ in April this year up in Edinburgh with my friend and producer, Prentice. The song is about watching someone move on so easily after heartbreak – as if what you had meant nothing – while you’re left completely paralysed. It’s that feeling of seeing them eating, sleeping, and going out like normal, while you can’t even function, and realising how unaffected they are compared to you.

Jealous’ explores that uncomfortable emotion that most of us don’t like to admit feeling. We’re often taught that jealousy is ugly – that it makes us seem bitter or small – so instead of understanding it, we tend to push it away or hate ourselves for feeling it. But really, jealousy often just points to an unfulfilled need in your own life that someone else has managed to meet in theirs. After writing the song, I realised that jealousy fades once you start recognising your own worth, rebuilding your self-esteem, and Realising your value isn’t determined by someone else’s affection or attention.”

Ocean’s music has seen him get compared to the likes of Lewis Capaldi, Cian Ducrot, and Tom Odell. As a songwriter, he never shies away from sharing his most heartfelt thoughts and emotions, creating meaningful connections with listeners all across the world.

Yelderbert – Chances

London-based Australian producer and engineer Yelderbert (aka Max Dowling) crafts a very special style of music which is experimental and unique without alienating its listeners.

‘Chances’ is the artist’s first release in more than two years and blends lo-fi electronica with elements of jazz and alternative pop. The sound is spontaneous and unpredictable but at the same time is also deeply emotive.

“‘Chances’ came from that uncomfortable feeling when you know you’ve hurt someone close to you — when you’re reckoning with your own flaws but still hoping to make it right. It’s about accountability, mainly.”

Dowling is an ARIA-nominated musician who, alongside his own solo projects, has also worked with the likes of Partiboi69, Allysha Joy, and Parvyn.

Mindy Gledhill – Livin’ the Dream

Mindy Gledhill returns today with one of her most heartfelt releases to date. ‘Livin’ the Dream’ explores how artists and creatives alike struggle to form meaningful connections with the rest of the world, more so now with social media curbing our attention spans.

Sonically, the track treats listeners to a dreamy fusion of folk, country and pop. The softness of the production allows for Gledhill’s vocals and lyrics to really shine through and connect with the listener.

If this is your first time coming across Gledhill’s music, then be sure to check out her most recent project, ‘The Phone Booth Sessions, Vol. 1’ over on Spotify.

Alexander Wolfe – To Feel Love

Alexander Wolfe is back today with a powerful new single, called ‘To Feel Love’.

Lifted from the acclaimed singer and songwriter’s forthcoming ‘Everythinglessness’ album (out 16th January), this rousing song touches on themes of escapism and chasing euphoria in a bid to feel less alone.

“Escaping from your problems and boredom by going out and getting wasted, a trap I have certainly fallen into myself. It’s about that endless search for love and excitement and how it can lead you astray.”

‘Everythinglessness’ was written during a difficult time in Wolfe’s life and is inspired by today’s society shifting its ideas of what masculinity ought to be:

“There’s a crisis around masculinity at the moment, you see it played out by grifters like Andrew Tate and Tommy Robinson. I believe the way through isn’t by hardening, but softening. We need more examples of soft, strong men.”

If you’re based in London then you can catch Alexander at his album launch show on the 24th January at Christchurch – tickets here.

Asbjørn – show u the future

Danish artist Asbjørn kicks off the week with a nostalgic bop that could have very easily fit into a playlist from a London radio station in the 90s.

‘show u the future’ is a collaboration with La Boum Fatale and blends a classic UK garage sound with electronic pop in a way that feels retro but also current. It’s playful and optimistic and harks back to a time when club culture was at its peak.

“‘show u the future’ rewinds to a time of skipping snare rolls, shuffling 2‑step grooves, and late‑night bassline pressure. This one is for the ravers, the lovers, the dreamers in the corner, dancing till sunlight creeps through the blinds.”

The song serves as a taster to Asbjørn’s upcoming project, ‘HAUSPARTY’, an EP inspired by club music and the nightlife culture, and its unique way of building communities out of music lovers.

willoh – OUCHIE

Missouri newcomer willoh unveils a dreamy new single today, and we’re quite sure you’ll be as mesmerised as we were when you play it.

‘OUCHIE’ sounds like nothing else we’ve come across recently. It’s playful, eccentric, and experimental, but it still feels emotive and loaded with tension.

The track is broken into several acts and evolves the longer you listen. The result is a piece of music that keeps listeners engaged throughout, never quite knowing what to expect with each minute that passes.

“’OUCHIE’ is about holding everything in and the breaking point that comes when you can’t anymore. It’s the sound of that explosion.”

Hailing from Springfield, willoh has only recently come across our radars. The release of her self-produced debut earlier this year, titled ‘not more than that, but more please’, received critical acclaim and has amassed more than 100k streams on her Spotify to date.

Paris WYA – Treat Me Right

Photo / Domen & Van de Velde

Shanghai-born and US-based artist Paris WYA is back today with a shimmering new single that was inspired by a feeling all too many of us know about – unrequited love!

‘Treat Me Right’ presents listeners with a polished pop production that also adds elements of acoustic guitar and synth, creating a sound that is energising but also melancholic in tone. Elaborating on the song, the artist says:

“It’s about the kind of first love that never leaves quietly, the one that lingers in muscle memory, in the shape of someone’s hand, in the way they once said your name. It’s about looking back with open wounds, and still believing somewhere deep down that if they had just loved you right, maybe you could’ve made it.”

For those new to Paris WYA’s work, this rising talent has garnered thousands of streams over the past few months, while also picking up praise from outlets as noted as Ones to Watch and GlamGlare.

Stolen Nova – Dancing With A Ghost

Stolen Nova has just released an indie banger called ‘Dancing With A Ghost’, and it’s already becoming a fan favourite.

Debuting at Paris Fashion Week, the song has found exposure among the likes of Charli XCX and AG Cook. Its anthemic melody, captivating vocals, and energising production makes it one of the biggest hits of the week for us.

“When I played ‘Dancing With A Ghost’ for the first time in Paris, the last chorus hit & I didn’t even have the mic anymore. I was surrounded by people crowding it, screaming every word to a song they’d never heard before.

Nobody wanted that night to end, which is actually what the track touches on. Never wanting to see the lights come up after the party to avoid the realization that you’re totally alone. Knowing a relationship is toxic, yet refusing to let go. You just keep your body moving.”

Stolen Nova’s music has picked up praise from outlets as prominent as BBC Radio, The Face, i-D, Interview Magazine, and Clash.

Ella Jet – deceiving

Ella Jet is a rising star gaining traction throughout Florida’s music scene. With her new single ‘deceiving’, we’re quite certain that traction will pick up globally.

This is an arresting piece of dark-pop music. The song addresses grief – and how it can turn us to become insular and alone and lose sight of the fact that there are people around us who care and love us.

“when i wrote ‘deceiving’, i was in a dark place. i felt trapped and alone, unsafe where i was living, and completely isolated in a new city. i remember feeling like no one really saw what i was going through, even though people probably cared more than i could recognize at the time. looking back, i can see how grief can twist your thoughts, it convinces you to stay quiet, to sit in your pain instead of reaching out. i wish i had been more honest about what was really happening and gotten myself the help i needed. but that’s the thing about writing music, it captures a moment in time. listening now, i feel relieved to be past it, but grateful that it still exists for anyone who might need to hear it and feel a little less alone!”

Ella first gained attention at the age of 16 with the release of her 2018 debut project, ‘Black Wave Diary’, which received widespread acclaim. Since then she’s amassed thousands of streams and continues to win fans with each new single.

Ruti – Monster

Ruti has unveiled their latest EP today, titled ‘Maybe I Got It Wrong’, and along with it, a beautiful song called ‘Monster’.

This acclaimed musician exudes finesse and quality in every aspect of their artistry, and their new body of work is no exception.

The single’s production treats listeners to an alt-pop production with subtle bossa nova elements, while the lyrics express the frustrations that arise from being surrounded by bad people.

“Whenever I perform this song I dedicate it to all of the men in my life that have wronged me. The song is my internal rage that just sits and bubbles. Sometimes I worry what it might manifest into. The song is like a quiet warning ‘go on push me to the limit and see what happens’. Sometimes my morals are tested by the people that rule this world – I’m only slightly joking. I think I just needed to expel some of that pent up anger watching how immigrants, queer people and honestly the global majority are demonised by people with the most power. But it’s also fuelled by my mundane day to day interactions with men that irk me to no end. Hopefully you can dance along to this song anyway.”

‘Monster’ is a good representation of what listeners can expect from the rest of the EP. Across the seven songs, you can experience Ruti delving into genres as diverse as pop and lo-fi folk, while still showcasing their sensational vocals. You can listen to the whole project right here.

I took inspiration from The Bloody Chamber and Dracula and I wanted to show the feeling of throwing yourself into love fully and recklessly. There is danger in love.”
