Am I holding you down?
Or am I holding you back?
I guess it’s one and the same
But we ain’t got no one to blame

Am I holding you down?

I guess it’s one and the same
But we ain’t got no one to blame

A pop starlet emerging out of Berlin. An emotive sound with a strong sense of melancholy, distinctive vocals and a rousing melody.

Breezy and charming electro-pop from an unsigned New York talent who blends catchy melodies with raw and honest lyricism. She’s already amassed over 40 million streams cumulatively on Spotify alone – one to watch out for!

If the name sounds familiar, it may be that you recognise Daniel Donskoy from big TV shows like ‘Strike Back’, ‘Detectorists’ and ‘The Crown’.
In addition to being an actor, today marks the release of his beautiful debut solo single ‘24‘. The sound is a finessed and sleek blend of RnB and minimal electronica, accompanied with sultry vocals and lyricism that longs for adrenaline and emotional peaks.
“It’s all about the high for me. But you’ve got to let your feelings stir you in the right direction to get to that point. You smile and have to trust that every high, whatever it is, will be followed by a low. But it’s nothing to be scared of, simply the truth, and the truth can’t hurt you if you accept it. I learnt to accept that, by now and treasure my awareness of that.”

An exciting Norwegian talent who blends alternative RnB with soul to create a sound that feels smooth, dreamy and frankly, damn romantic.
Taken from the upcoming debut album, due for release in spring 2021.

A stunningly dark, intense and sensual approach to music that blurs the lines between genres. Pop, synth, indie and soul all fuse together seamlessly to create something quite spectacular.
The song is immediately arresting through it’s emotive melodic tones and refreshingly raw lyricism, and really is quite the experience to listen to.
“It is honesty at the core; how you truly begin to understand yourself… understand someone else. When you decide to let go and appreciate what is there… then love is reality.”

Taylor DeBlock has become somewhat of a regular occurrence on this site, and with good reason. Each release coming out of this kid has been a superb fusion of RnB and pop, and I for one am living for it!

The Sunshine State is a new project from prolific songwriter Skyler Stonestreet (who’s behind songs for Ariana Grande & Justin Bieber, Dua Lipa, The Chainsmokers, Marshmello, Hailee Steinfeld, and more).
With that in mind, it comes as no surprise that this record is just about the most stunning piece of indie-pop you’ll hear all day.
“‘Cliff Drive’ is about nostalgia for me, it’s about a time in my life where I was doing almost anything and trying everything, where I felt reckless but safe in that. I was on a constant chase for something new, dangerous, as long as it was freeing. Cliff Drive is a road in Santa Barbara where I grew up, and that I’ve driven down many many times. It’s a road that looks beautiful but has come with its own tragedies. This song captures the impulsive and carefree feeling of escape.”

Chill-pop with elements of soft electronic tones, natural guitar and bass. It’s a very simple sound that still feels utterly loveable and catchy.
“‘Oh!’ was written on one of the last planes out of Nicaragua right when Covid-19 struck. Kadillac’s lead singer Iggy reached out with a beat and chorus and I wrote the rest in the air.”

The genre-bending blood brothers from Boston return today with an infectiously catchy slice of experimental glitch-pop that is pure joy.
Taken from the new album ‘no less than three’ which is out now.

A perfect blend of neo-soul and electro-pop, matched with a vocal that exudes character.
“A once romantic, jilted man got sick of having his heart broken and decided to embrace the life of a heartbreaker to even the playing field.”

One of Sydney’s most exciting musical talents from the last couple of years, Lola Scott continues to treat the rest of the world with her uniquely captivating approach to indie-pop.
“When I wrote ‘Eviction Song’ it was my sixth move in the last four years (add another two moves since then). My 1/4 life crisis has taught me that there aren’t many stable things in life other than those ride or die friendships that feel like family (+family). The more emotional breakdowns we faced together as housemates, the closer we got to each other and luckily the eviction did not kill our friendships. And a couple of us have found a new place to continue the benders that probably got us kicked out in the first place. You can never please everyone so just treat people right and enjoy the time you get to spend with your close friends.”
Taken from the upcoming debut EP ‘1/4 Life Crisis’ which is out in 2021.

Rose Gray’s new release takes inspiration from 90s dance music, all the while still sounding incredibly fresh.
“Crying on the banks of the Thames… dancing through London Town… escaping everyday’s madness. I love 90s dance music – the soulful melodies, the samples, the orchestra elements, break beats and somehow entwining all these elements and bringing it into the 21st century became my mission for this song.”
Taken from the upcoming EP ‘dancing, drinking, talking, thinking’ which is due in January 2021.

This is some the finest talent emerging from the British city of Leeds. Kelly Kiara is no stranger to music; after a cover of Justin Bieber’s ‘Love Yourself’ went viral, she secured a publishing deal with Universal and went on to write chart-topping hits for the likes of Mabel and Gorgon City.
Now she’s releasing music as a singer and this track is a perfectly crafted slice of RnB and pop. One of the UK’s brightest starlets in the making… watch this space!

I’ve really lost count of the number of times that I have posted music from WizTheMc, but the truth is I just can’t get enough from this Berlin-based talent.
Every release comes with a fresh perspective, and this track is no different; it’s a playful and fun slice of indie pop that is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face.

A perfected fusion of indie-pop and EDM, with a light dose of quirkiness. Watch out for the chorus because it’s both amazing and bonkers in equal measures!
“I was on the brink of quitting music. The pandemic had just hit, I felt pulled in so many directions and had no inspiration to create. One day, I was taking a walk and the chorus melody for ‘Clouds’ came out of nowhere; from there, the song flowed out in a matter of hours. Funny how a song about my confusion put me back on track.”

Hailing from London, multi-instrumentalist Sol Paradise is both a solo artist as well as a producer who crafts sounds that blend indie with alternative RnB.
More than that though, all his songs have a very unique essence that are quintessential to his style.
“‘Tranquil Life’ centres around ideas of knowing where you want to be, but the uncertainty of how to get there.”

In my view, it’s near impossible not to fall in love with this song immediately once you press play.
Born and raised in London by Danish and Japanese parents, Copenhagen-based talent Mina Okabe is still only 20 years old. Yet somehow, there’s a sense of timelessness in her sound that feels mellow, soulful and inviting, all the while being effortlessly cool.
‘I’m Done’ is out via Copenhagen Records on 30th October 30 2020.
