Gorgon City + DRAMA – Nobody

Gorgon City | DRAMA MUSIC

Maximillian – Still Alive

Taken from the new EP, ‘Still Alive’.

”Growing up I started hanging out with the wrong people and I’ve seen myself standing at many crossroads in my life. Both in my teens and later also in relationships. I wrote these new songs about both and in a process of finding out who I used to be, who I am today and who I’m going to be.”

KELLA – Straight Jacket Love

“This is an anthem for accepting me for who I am. In a time where social media deceives you into thinking image is everything and everyone is perfect, this is the antithesis. I put all my cards on the table, and I wear my heart on my sleeve. This song was a call to anyone who feels like they have so much to give, they’re just looking for someone to accept them for how they are.”

New Music: Stevie Ray

Feel-good hip hop from the Bay Area.

‘Nothing But Love is a celebration of love and a rejection of capitalist programming. It’s about loving people now, and letting go of the idea that you have to become someone to be someone. Some folks got everything in the world, but the only thing that anyone needs is love.”

Stevie Ray

New Music: Andreas Vey

Beautifully simple yet emotional pop with a sense of melancholy.

“I had a breakdown and moved to Berlin to begin again. Somehow it started with a clutch of failures and setbacks. I couldn’t find a place to stay and worked in twenty or more different daily jobs and finally my girlfriend broke up with me. I was pretty lost and disillusioned and I wandered through the city a lot at that time. I remember being pretty overwhelmed by the hectic of the city and all the different impressions while I was seeking refuge and solace.”

New Music: ZELAH

Powerfully atmospheric alt-pop from London.

“It’s full of conflicting emotions and is pretty reflective on the modern dating culture and the level of uncertainty everyone feels with a new relationship and where it’s going… But it also has a lot of those amazing, positive feelings in the early stages of something when you just can’t stop thinking about someone.”

KEiiNO – Would I Lie (feat. Electric Fields)

Admittedly this isn’t something I usually feature on the site but it’s such a pop banger that I had to share it with you. Specially in these grim times, a bop like this could lift the spirits a little.

The song features KEiiNO – who placed first with the public vote at Eurovision 2019 with ‘Spirit In The Sky’ while Electric Fields are an ARIA-nominated outfit who merge Aboriginal culture with electro sounds.

Madison Beer – Stained Glass

“This song was my message, not only to the public, but to those around me, to be more gentle on people and not judge them so hard, because you never know what someone’s been through. People sometimes assume that I’m ok, when I’m not; people don’t really see the parts of me that are the ugly, sad or depressed, they only see the sides they want to see, or the sides I feel comfortable to show because of the scrutiny that I’ve been under in my life.”

New Music: Ross Quinn

A beautifully textured and emotive piece of British left-pop.

“You’, is inspired by the early & exciting stages of a relationship. Forming a connection with someone, trying to gain a better understanding of them and their somewhat, elusive feelings. I wanted that energy to match in production with a driving beat, yet keeping the warm tones and textures throughout, taking you back to that place of the relationship.”

Griff – Good Stuff (A Take Away Show)

“So my family foster children in care, and we’ve had kids come and live with us for as long as four years, but they always end up moving on to a more permanent situation. Every time they do, as a family we always only ever remember ‘the good stuff’ – even though fostering can be super difficult and hard. So about a year ago I came into the studio with ‘only remember the good stuff when you go’ written down in my phone notes, and that became this song.”

Fickle Friends – Pretty Great

Power pop from one of the UK’s hardest working DIY bands.

“’Pretty Great came’ about after a long day of writing, starting ideas and not really loving anything we came up with. We called it quits around 9 and opened some wine and listened to a couple Sheryl Crow songs. Jack just kinda started jamming on the guitar and the words and melody literally fell out of my mouth. We wrote the song in like…an hour and didn’t know if it was a joke or actually the best thing ever…in the morning we decided it was the latter.”
