SHY Martin – l.o.v.e

TRACK OF THE WEEK

Alfitude has featured SHY Martin so many times that we should just call ourselves her biggest fans at this point. With that in mind, it won’t come as a surprise to know that our Track of the Week comes from this hugely acclaimed Swedish artist and songwriter.

‘l.o.v.e’ weaves elements of alt-pop with indie and adds a touch of shoegaze into the mix, creating a sound that feels raw and organic, while the melody evolves from understated verses to anthemic choruses.

SHY’s next full-length record is due for release next year. Oh, and fun fact: to date, SHY’s work as a songwriter has amassed her more than six billion streams. Beat that.

New Music: DeepFaith

TRACK OF THE WEEK

We’re going to be really honest with you… The first few seconds of this song didn’t connect with us at all.

But we also couldn’t stop listening… and well… we found ourselves completely mesmerised by the end, to the point where this is now our Track of the Week.

‘Y&I’ by DeepFaith (aka Byron Spencer and Danial Stricker) is just an utter delight to experience. Its surreal and experimental production, courtesy of Matias TĆ©llez, bounces between genres as diverse as electronica, pop, synth – and even choral – all the while sounding like a cohesive piece of work.

Alongside the release of the song also comes a music video, which was created by DeepFaith’s closest friends, chosen acquaintances and family:

‘It’s community. It’s the world. It’s finding your people even when things feel or are shit in the church of the night.ā€

Gaby K – Momma Told Me

TRACK OF THE WEEK

While we tend to focus on future-forward sounds on this site, sometimes we can’t resist premium, top-grade classic soul. For those unfamiliar with Gaby K, this rising UK talent is, in our opinion, one of the UK’s most exciting prospects.

‘Momma Told Me’ is the singer-songwriter’s latest release, and it’s a gorgeous slice of soulful pop that is sure to win any listener’s heart. The song looks at coping with loneliness and reminds us to love ourselves first and foremost.

“I wrote ‘Momma Told Me’ on the stage in life where you are single; it’s about managing ā€˜loneliness’, receiving advice from friends and family about dating and just trying to navigate the single life. Being single is such an important part of your life, learning to love yourself, growing alone and being able to enjoy your own company. I think we sometimes forget that it’s a time we should embrace and enjoy and not look for the next partner.”

We’ve loved Gaby K’s work for quite some time, and we really can’t wait to see what she comes out with next.

New Music: Fright Years

TRACK OF THE WEEK

Fright Years are undoubtedly one of Scotland’s most promising emerging indie-rock outfits. The recent release of their debut EP, ‘Still Life’, brought the Edinburgh-based group to prominence across the indie world, and that momentum isn’t slowing down anytime soon.

New single ‘Wait For Nothing’ is an incredibly powerful song, not only sonically but also lyrically. The track confronts our fears of death and encourages us to embrace life to its fullest, while the production is bold and confident in tone.

ā€œWait for Nothing is about finding comfort in mortality, It’s a realisation that life is short, and a call to devote yourself to your passion despite fear. Writing the lyrics felt like a personal pep talk: focus on what matters make the changes you need, and pour your energy into the things you love.ā€ – ā€ Kelly, Fright Years

With praise from the likes of BBC Radio 1 and CLASH already under their belts, we’re very sure that Fright Years will break into the global market very soon.

TRACK OF THE WEEK

ā€œI wrote it about moving to LA and feeling a little bit lost in the chaos, like everything was falling apart. It felt like nothing was working. The chorus is quite ethereal and a nice let go for me. I thought, ā€˜Well even if everything around me has turned to shit, I’m going to stay sweet, still be kind, and attract the right kind of people.’ I got my friend Sora to play the cello in the bridge, which I LOVE. I cry sometimes when I listen to that part. And it’s such a fun song to perform live!ā€

Alexander Wolfe – Talk

TRACK OF THE WEEK

UK singer and songwriter Alexander Wolfe has been on our radar from as early as 2019, and we’re still very much in love with his work.

The artist returns today with a beautiful new single called ‘Talk’, and its message is a serious one:

“‘Talk’ is a song I wrote in response to the statistic that young men are more likely to die from suicide than anything else. How am I meant to accept the fact that the thing most likely to kill me in this world is me? The song is a call to action for lads to talk about their shit. To each other, to therapists, to the old lady on the bus, whoever it is, just talk. We have to break the shame. We need to stop seeing vulnerability as weakness.ā€

Mental health amongst men is something rarely touched upon in indie music, and it’s so reassuring to see artists like Wolfe releasing songs like this to the world. Hopefully this track, and its lyrics, will encourage some listeners to seek any help and guidance that they might need right now.

The song marks Wolfe’s next chapter in his music career, and we’re looking forward to seeing what comes next from this hugely gifted musician.

Kings Elliot – What If This World

TRACK OF THE WEEK

Acclaimed Swiss singer and songwriter Kings Elliot returns with a powerful and deeply emotive song today, titled ‘What If This World’.

The track’s lyrics are some of the most beautiful and thought-provoking that we’ve listened to in quite some time.

These are raw and sincere words that tell of some of the artist’s perspectives of the world around us, and are sure to tap into any listener’s heart and mind.

Barefeet on this earth
Watchin’ it burn, smoke in our lungs
They’ll eat all their words
Then we’ll be heard bitin’ our tongues
I know that it hurts
But it’s worse dyin’ young
It’s hard watchin’ it turn
What if this world isn’t for us?

The song serves as a taster to the artist’s next album, ‘Born Blue’, which is scheduled for release on the 26th September 2025.

New Music: Korder

TRACK OF THE WEEK

UK-based outfit Korder has unleashed one of the most impressive releases of the week, and we’re really excited to include it on these pages.

‘end of an eternity,’ mastered by the acclaimed John Webber, is a euphoric piece of music that is not only refreshingly unique sonically but also incredibly moving. The track seamlessly presents listeners with a fusion of genres—from dreamy pop and shoegaze to pure, raw rock.

And it seems like we’re not the only ones who are impressed by Korder—they’ve already been featured by BBC Introducing, showing that they’re ones to watch for in the coming months.

Lucky Iris – i just want to dance

TRACK OF THE WEEK

ā€œIt was important for the new era of Lucky Iris to start with an exploration into what first got us into electronic pop music. As soon as I was old enough to even try and get into a club, all I wanted to do was go out dancing. It was my first taste of freedom which was so special to me – the first time, the music that got me there, and the rush of going out has always stayed with me.ā€  – Maeve, Lucky Iris

EDEN – Ghost In the Shell

TRACK OF THE WEEK

Acclaimed Irish artist EDEN is back this week with our track of the week, and honestly, it’s one of the best releases we’ve come across in quite some time.

‘Ghost in the Shell’ is a refreshingly experimental electronic pop song that carries with it essences of both melancholy and joy in a thoughtful and balanced way. The sound is unexpected and intriguing but also sincere and emotional.

“‘Ghost in the Shell’ was written on my tour bus in 2023. i remember having this crushing feeling of wanting something so badly that could never happen. i was overwhelmed. we all love things that cant/don’t love us back.

EDEN is currently readying the release of his next album, ‘Dark,’ which is scheduled for release later this year. EDEN’s work has recently garnered praise from the likes of Fault and Hotpress, showing that this talent is still as highly regarded and loved as ever.

Words can’t really describe how much we’re blown away by bat zoo’s heady new single, ‘Lemon.’

This song treats listeners to a smoky blend of alternative R&B and soul. The sound is mysterious and intriguing, while also maintaining an emotive essence.

Impressively, ‘Lemon’ was created by bat zoo himself in its entirety, showcasing his skills as a singer, songwriter, and producer. With praise from the likes of Atwood and c-heads magazine, it’s clear this Berlin-based artist has a very bright future ahead of him.

New Music: Max Baby

Photo / Ariane Kiks

TRACK OF THE WEEK

We’ve not come across an artist who excites us as much as alternative artist Max Baby has in quite some time.

This emerging Parisian singer, songwriter, and producer crafts a style of sound that is so refreshingly distinct and unexpected, yet also so emotionally charged that it really does leave you feeling like you’ve experienced music in a new way.

‘I Can Do Anything’ was driven by a breakup – but it also looks at the inner struggles that haunt us when we try to overcome our pain and bring ourselves back from the abyss. The track is sonically raw and lyrically introspective and feels like a song we can all relate to.

ā€œ’I Can Do Anything’ is a push-pull between shadow and light, a raw song about the inability to let go, masked by a defiant but hollow sense of empowerment. I was going through the toughest breakup of my life when I wrote it. But it’s not just a breakup song, it also questions the relationship I have with myself. The chorus came first, like an empowering mantra I was repeating to try and lift this weight off my chest. But the more I tried to move on, the more I wondered: can you ever truly get rid of something like that? Or do you just learn to live with it?ā€

Debbie – Midnight Calls

TRACK OF THE WEEK

ā€œI release my emotions through my music. ‘Midnight Calls’ was just another one of those songs for me. Like most of my unreleased music, I put it in my back pocket, replaying it to myself from time to time; not expecting much from it… but one day whilst sitting on the bus this particular song touched me.

I had goosebumps and a heavy hit of emotion. I couldn’t keep it to myself so decided to share it online – only to see it was touching so many other people. I’m so glad I listened to that song on the B14 that day.ā€

New Music: Georgian

TRACK OF THE WEEK

ā€œā€™Learning to Forget’ has a true Georgian structure, from starting quite slow, melancholy and reflective, to progressing to a heavy, distorted and powerful sound – expect the unexpected! The song itself discusses heartbreak and how you can be so eager to forget everything when a relationship ends. Even though you don’t want the memories and small reminders of that person, they still happen.ā€ – Georgia McKiernan, Georgian

New Music: tesh

TRACK OF THE WEEK

A perfect harmony between UK garage and techno, tesh’s new single ‘APOLOGIES’ makes an immediate impact from the moment you press play.

Lifted from the artist’s ‘CYCLES + REPETITIONS’ EP (out now), this track guides the listener through a spectrum of emotions – from moments of darkness to heightened euphoria – while still sounding cohesive.

“‘APOLOGIES’ is my way of paying homage to the new wave of UKG/2-step, while showcasing some fresh production styles. I used that iconic vocal sample but gave it a darker twist. The track is kept simple, with not too much going on, as I really wanted the strong drum kit and booming bass to shine through. Emotionally, it’s a reflection of my own struggles with communication, especially in relationships. The end of the track is meant to be that moment of reflection and clarity.”

Tesh’s music has been heralded by Billboard magazine, while their songs have landed placements on flagship playlists like Spotify’s All New Dance and Amazon’s Breakthrough Electronic.

TRACK OF THE WEEK

British hip hop has a new name to champion, and that is Siah. This talent has caught our interest with the release of his new single, ‘That’s Why’.

The song focuses on the tenacity that young people need in order to get through the world in this day and age. The lyrics address a host of issues – from dating struggles to family dramas to overcoming self-doubt.

“It’s a track reflecting on self-reliance, overcoming adversity, and achieving success independently.”

New Music: Franklin Mansion

TRACK OF THE WEEK

Irish-born and Brighton-based artist Franklin Mansion is one of the most interesting newcomers to come across our radars this spring.

The exciting prospect has a distinct approach with the way he creates his songs. The tracks are brave and experimental, yet still maintain an emotive essence which allows them to feel relatable.

“‘You Were Never Really Here (Chloroform)’ is about that blurry place where a relationship ends emotionally before it ends physically. It’s the fourth version of this track. I kept re-recording it until it felt honest. Everything you hear was recorded in my bedroom in Brighton.”

While there’s still not much out there about Franklin Mansion, we think that it’ll only be a matter of time before he starts building momentum. A debut album titled ‘Speak with Your Limbs’ is on the way, so be sure to follow this artist on the socials!
