This track from Mash Up International featuring three new Swedish heavyweights: Gnucci, Vaz and Timbuktu, is ridiculous and genius in equal measures.
New Music: First Love, Last Rites
Track of the week. Swedish indie/ shoegaze which I can’t help but smile to when I hear. Check out here.
First Listen: The Neighbourhood ‘Let It Go’
The Neighbourhood have a stomper of a new single out January 14th 2013 that’s really worth a listen. This band will be huge.
New Music: Embers
Im in Denmark for the next couple of days to escape London and try and get my head straight a bit. Copenhagen is pretty (I’ve put up some random pics on my Instagram which is also called Alfitude).
On an unrelated note, this is a new band from Manchester called Embers, and if this live version of their track ‘Hollow Cage’ is anything to go by, will get a lot of attention through the intensity of their sound. Check out here.
First Watch: Lune ‘Made of Steel’
New Swedish electropop from Lune. It sounds a bit gloomy. Then the chorus rings in and it’s nice again.
Amtrac – Those Days (Viceroy Remix)
Loving this remix by Viceroy of Amtrac’s ‘Those Days’. Which, if recognition serves me well, is a re-working of a Stevie Wonder classic. All good.
New Music: The Strypes
You’d be forgiven for mistaking this for something to come out of a dark cave of an rnb club from the 60’s, but it’s very, very new. Check out here.
New Music: J-SoL
I can see potential in this act: this is a pretty fresh sound from a Brit School alumni. Check out here.
New Music: Different Sleep
This is beautiful, and sends me back to a time when I heard Active Child for the first time. Check out here.
First Watch: Staygold ft Style Of Eye and Pow ‘Wallpaper’
One of the more quirkier tracks to come out of Sweden of late, this is the new video for Staygold’s ‘Wallpaper’ track.
New Music: Heather Russell
I don’t have a song of the week as yet, but this is my artist of the week by a mile. She’s only twelve and she’s got the major record labels in one mighty big stir. This girl is on… fire. Check out here.
Mighty Mouse x Madonna
When Mighty Mouse does a re-work, it’s almost never terrible. And when it’s Madonna… Well, that can only mean fun.
New Music: Vinsten
New Music: Esco Williams
First Watch: Booty Luv ‘Black Widow’
I’ve made no secret that I love this song so hard. It’s as good as radio pop gets from a group that know how to build dancefloor classics.
First Watch: FrankMusik ‘Fast As I Can’
Paloma Faith – Just Be (Shy FX & B.Traits Mix)
This is an interesting mix for Paloma Faith. I like Shy FX, so this I like this. It’s got a very 90’s vibe.
Free Download: Yan Wagner ‘Forty Eight Hours’ (Rebotini Classic Dub)
If you like vintage New Order you’ll love this new kid from the Kitsune fraternity, Yan Wagner. He’ll be playing Oui Love 2012 in a city near you in the UK.
Monday blues
It’s been one of those Mondays that make you wonder where you’re going in life… Anyway, this came to me in an email and it’s nice to listen to. Its the remix package for Pelifics’ “Wish It Could Last” featuring Electric Youth. There are remixes from Marius Vareid, Octo Octa, Poindexter and Sweet Track.
New Music: Mel Jade
Lots of snogging from all angles on this video clip, the track has a slight 90’s trip hop feel to it. Check out here.
