New Music: The Heartbreaks

I see a little bit of Pulp in this Morecambe four piece. This is catchy indie rock/ pop with a big throwback to the 90’s. Good stuff. Check out here.

Free Download: Six60 ‘Forever’

Courtesy of one of the most exciting acts to come out of New Zealand for some time, I reckon this is song of the week. And it’s a free download. It’s a massive track mixing soul, powerpop, electrosoul and rock. Can’t get any better really, can it? Six60 are getting some great buzz already – they will be huge.

First Watch: Everything Everything ‘Cough Cough’

This is literally hot off the press, having been made record of the week by BBC Radio 1‘s Zane Lowe just now. The idiosyncratic and innovative sonic force that is Everything Everything are back with their follow up album to 2010’s debut, ‘Man Alive’.

Mad, tribal, epic and brilliant is how I’d describe their new single, ‘Cough Cough’ out October 14th. New album ‘Arc’ out January 14th 2013.

First Listen: Lissi Dancefloor Disaster ‘Singing My Heart Out’

Mix a formula with some vintage The Knife, some current Robyn and a little Miike Snow, and you get this track. It is pretty spectacular. This is the new song from Swedish lady Lissi Dancefloor Disaster.

First Watch: Patrick Wolf ‘Sundark and Riverlight’

One of my favourite kids, Patrick Wolf, is back with a new album. ‘Sundark & Riverlight’ celebrates 10 years of Wolf making music and consists of re-recordings new arrangements and updated lyrics of his songs from his last five albums. Totally self produced and arranged, the songs are grouped into two stories, “Sundark” an album of more his more solitary darker material and “Riverlight” songs of hope and relationship.

‘Ode To The Bouncer’ finally to get a release in the UK!

This song by Studio Killers has become somewhat of a blog sensation, notching up over four million views on YouTube, and having No 1 chart success in Holland and Top 20 chart positions in Denmark and Finland. It’s been signed up by AATW and so a UK release is imminent. Good times.

Music Potential

I had this sent to me and I figured it might be of interest to some readers- Angel has been announced as the ambassador to Music Potential. It’s a joint project between Choice FM and Barclaycard and allows out of work/school 16-25 year olds  the opportunity to unleash their potential and learn more about the music industry from professionals across the spectrum. Find out more about the project here.
