Some of the best hip hop Belgium has to offer.

An extremely catchy blend of neo-soul and jazz that’s full of character, matched with some powerful vocals.

Another week on lockdown and I am psyched to make this week as positive as possible. So with that in mind… Some Dua Lipa for you.

“”you broke me first” is a really special song to me. This song is about someone in a relationship who couldn’t care less for the other person and then six months later decides to crawl back. It’s the feeling of knowing how much they meant to you, but this time not letting them back in. I hope everyone can connect to this song like I do.”

”’Talking To The Moon’ is about all your inner demons that you’re always struggle with. In our case it’s about not feeling comfortable with opening up fully to a real person, so you turn to the moon (like a metaphor of talking to nothingness) and that you never get an answer.”

Entirely sung in Finnish and yet this is just too great not to share with you. It’s a mix of bubblegum pop and a very hard electro sound.

“He Don’t Trust Me is about the paranoia and jealousy that comes with loving someone who is in an unhappy relationship. Written from the perspective of the person outside the relationship.”

Blissfully charming mellow pop and RnB from the Philippines.
“It tells about being happy or naturally ‘intoxicated’ without alcohol.”

“‘You & Me’ signifies the start of a more R&B/Jazz influence over my new work. Musically it’s more mature, the lyrical content is more personal than ever and You & Me starts this.”

Because technically it’s the weekend (albeit in lockdown), and any time is a good excuse to enjoy techno.

“It was me being confident enough in my growth to say, “if you change your mind, keep it to yourself.” I wanted to make the video as bold as the statement. I thought of the most extreme phone call I would never want to get, and ran with that, allowing myself to be a teeny bit vengeful. Okay, maybe more than a teeny bit.”

An introspective release from Christian French, wrapped in a playful indie pop vibe.

Indie folk with a sense of fragility and melancholy, that slowly builds into something intense and epic. Quite a beautiful thing to listen to.
“For me jane can be applied to depression, or being caught in an abusive (or unhealthy) relationship, or destructive loneliness that one can’t seem to shake. To me, jane is a picture of how art and song can grow and change with the listener.”

With an already astronomical following on social media (following on from being half of the multi-platinum pop duo Jack & Jack), it won’t take long for the rest of the world to take notice of this kid. A finessed pop sound with hints of RnB and soul.

Another showstopper from Swedish pop-RnB powerhouse, Molly Hammar.
“I think everyone struggles with loneliness. Sometimes you love it, sometimes you hate it. ‘‘Alone’ is about someone trying to escape loneliness and hurting people along the way. If this song can become a wake-up call for someone to deal with their emotional life better, or if someone can find comfort in gaining some perspective in themselves I have achieved my goal with “Alone”.

A mellow mix of indie and chilled electronica from this Australian duo.
“Our new single, Bedroom Lounge Bar, is about a peculiar night out in the Gold Coast whilst on an east coast tour of Australia. Lead singer, Toby, recounts the events that unfolded when he was taken on a misguided circuit of the city’s nightlife and found himself encompassed by a foreign sphere of culture and company.”

“’Hallelujah’ is about broken illusions in a broken world. It’s that moment of realisation when you know you have to make peace with something that just can’t be fixed. I wouldn’t call myself religious, but this song came out almost like a prayer. It was a cry for help in a hopeless situation. In the end religion didn’t save me, but neither did the shrink or the pills that he gave me. This song gave me an escape and some kind of piece. Like so many times before, music was the answer.”
