LÜCY + Moyka – LOOP

We’ve got a real sonic delight to share with you today, courtesy of Taiwanese artist LÜCY.

‘LOOP’ is a stunning collaboration with Norwegian talents Eirik Hella (producer) and singer Moyka.

The track’s heady blend of electronica and dark pop instantly draws you in with its hypnotic beat structure. At the same time, the vocals deliver lyrics that span three languages – English, Norwegian, and Mandarin.

Touching on themes of generational trauma stemming from fear and pain, ‘LOOP’ reminds us that we have the power to break these toxic cycles. But then again, do we have it within us to really try?

Moyka – When

Norwegian artist Moyka comes full circle today with the release of debut album ‘The Revelations of Love’ and its lead single, ‘When.’

This stunning electro pop song juxtaposes melancholic vocals with a euphoric beat, and is a perfect example of just why Moyka has established herself as one of the Nordic nations’ most promising starlets.

“To me, love is the most important feeling of them all. It’s so existential ‘cause it’s what I think makes us human. Last year hit us so hard. I felt a lot of grief and sadness because of everything that happened in the world and in my life. As a person who feels a lot intensely, it’s hard to not feel overwhelmed by everything. One thing that kind of woke up the flame in me again, was music that reminded me there is hope to feel good again. To feel love again.”

Today we have yet another unleashing of energising, pulsating synth beats from Moyka- would you expect any less? A song that details the introspection following the end of a relationship.

“It’s just emotion. And it’s okay to still have good feelings about someone – good energy and emotion.” It’s an energetic, but sad love song perfect for both parties/alone time.”

What better way to celebrate 10-years of London’s top Scandi night, Ja Ja Ja than to go and watch them showcase three of my absolute favourite Nordic acts last night.

Elias

I have been featuring this Swedish talent since 2015 and I am still a huge fan of his raw take on soul and pop – and the intensity is amplified tenfold on stage.

Moyka

Moyka carries a powerful synth pop sound in a way that Norwegian talent only can. Watching this kid live felt like a polished cross between Robyn and Ingrid, only with a naivete charm which makes the whole sound so unique.

Jesse Markin

One of Finland’s brightest talents of late, with the most stunning fusion of RnB and pop. A bold presence on stage, this set was mind blowingly epic and captivating.
