I really can’t ever find a fault with Nao’s talent since the beginning of time. Full on soul with this one, it’s near impossible not to be moved.
This was by far my favourite show of the year. Demo Taped pulled off an incredible set completely on his own (and doing it pretty flawlessly), while NAO just proved to me even more how she’s taking 2016 by storm.
Now then – here’s an act I’m not shocked to see in the shortlist! NAO comes third in this year’s BBC Sound of 2016 poll. Insatiable electro soul that’s just too good to ignore.
Tomorrow the runner up is revealed.
The BBC Sound Of poll is one of the biggest and most accurate music surveys to find next year’s breakout star. Previous winners have included Years & Years, Adele, Sam Smith and 50 Cent.
I’m so happy to see that 2016 has a very strong line up with pop and grime genres taking the lead.
As is becoming usual (not that I’m one for gloating), the majority were featured on Alfitude a long while ago…
My bet is for Jack Garratt to win, with Dua Lipa, NAO and Frances and Alessia Cara to finish the top 5.
The shortlist is revealed at the start of January, with the winner announced on the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show on 8 January 2016.
Here’a Nao’s first single from her upcoming debut album.
Nao releases new EP ‘February 15’ digitally through her own label Little Tokyo Recordings on May 1st and physically via Dummy Records.
