BAYLI – foreigner

Brooklyn-based artist and songwriter BAYLI returns today with new single foreigner’.

Taken from the debut EP ‘stories from new york’ (out now), this is a luxurious blend of alt-RnB and pop and tells the tale of a one night stand. Talking about the EP, BAYLI says:

“The concept really just came naturally. As we started to make songs for the project, I noticed that they all had this storyline that brought me back to NYC. With all the ways the city has influenced my identity with music and art and fashion and even my family’s identity too, it just felt so right.”

New Music: riela

Miami-based talent riela credits genres like disco, pop, RnB, and Panamanian reggaeton for the development of not only her musical soundscape but also her artistry as a whole.

And listening to ‘lyu2‘ really gives you a sense that she could well be the next Latinx RnB starlet to emerge from the US.

“‘lyu2′ brings up an experience that a lot of people have gone through when it comes to relationships. Where you’re not entirely sure if you’ve fucked something up with the person or if it’s just in your head. Either way, they’ve kind of ghosted you/switched up their energy towards you and you’re just tryna’ figure out what you did to get little to no reciprocation. We stay emo out here.” – riela

Rosa Linn + Kiiara – KING

With the goal to become Armenia’s first global music artist, 21-year-old singer-songwriter-producer Rosa Linn teams up with Kiiara to release her debut single ‘KING’.

The song showcases the glorification of western culture, and fame not being all it’s cut out to be through both Kiiara and Rosa’s lenses.

“I want my music to have a message and as soon as I wrote “KING”, I knew it had to be my first release. It addresses the political undertones between Russia and America and I’m thankful to have Kiiara share her / the American perspective of what fame is like.” – Rosa Linn

Matilda Cole – Camden

Brighton-based indie pop newcomer Matilda Cole returns today with her stunning new release ‘Camden‘.

A melancholy slow-burner with arresting lyricism, the song is yet another example showcasing this talent’s incredible songwriting skill.

“‘Camden’ is really just a song about my parents splitting up. A lot changed for me in a year, and watching their relationship deteriorate followed by selling the family home was harder for me to handle than I thought it would be. ‘Camden’ really sets the tone for the EP, which is a collection of songs about the reality of growing up.”

New Music: Lil Seyi

A hugely exciting blend of soul and pop from Maryland born singer-songwriter Lil Seyi.

This is a sound that feels controlled and structured, yet brims with a playful sense of energy that is both captivating and charming to any listener.

“I remember first hearing the word denouement in my 9th grade english class and thinking it was such a cool word. Fast-forward about 6 years when I was writing this song, the word came to mind because Adam (producer) said the beat reminded him of August. In his words, ‘every August it just seems like something ends and I almost dread it it’s weird.’ I wrote ‘denouement’ to capture that feeling; the dread of a good thing coming to an end.”

New Music: kid apollo

Hailing from Brixton in London comes teenage outfit kid apollo. With a visceral and hushed hybrid of RnB and pop, this trio are crafting songs that are sonically interesting and lyrically engaging.

“We’re expressing our experiences within the way we live through our music. We aim to never restrict ourselves to one genre as this wouldn’t reflect the type of artists we are. Whether the songs are talking about relationships or our last function, all we really want when someone first listens to our music is for them to be in their own space and get lost in the songs.”

New Music: SOFY

Track of the week. Leicester-raised artist SOFY has to be the most exciting British talent that I have come across so far this month.

An understated and hazy indie-pop sound with a dose of cheekiness, it’s no wonder she’s already picking up support from prominent tastemakers likes Clara Amfo, Jess Iszatt, Gemma Bradley, and artists Tom Grennan, Sam Fender, and YUNGBLUD.

New Music: Jharna Bhagwani

An outstanding debut from social media starlet Jharna Bhagwani. ‘Tell Me’ is a perfected alt-pop sound with dark undertones, carrying the message that no one deserves to be in a toxic relationship.

Thanks to an already huge following on social media (10 million followers on Tik Tok and over 3 million on Instagram alone), it seems only a short space of time before this talent takes over the pop world.

“Art has become my channel for exploration and experiment. I enjoy playing different characters. I create concepts, messages and how I want them to be perceived. People have seen my work in makeup videos. This time, I have the opportunity to express my alter-ego in a different form, a song and music video.”

Daniel Saint Black – Chasing Down a Feeling

Citing some of his biggest musical inspirations as Tom Petty and Harry Styles, Daniel Saint Black returns with a song that shows their influence come through beautifully.

Cinematic new single ‘Chasing Down a Feeling’ has an almost dream-like quality to it’s style of pop, which is not only mesmerising but also tremendously catchy to listen to.

Y the Ghost – Is That Too Deep?

Multi-faceted artist Jacoby Elliott, who goes by Y the Ghost is not only a singer, songwriter, producer and composer but also a filmmaker.

Sharing his craft with the world since 2015, he was recently invited to join the ‘Beyond Music’ project which was co-founded by the legend that is Tina Turner herself.

“Y the Ghost is about the lifelong quest for love and immortality through music and film. I really let my subconscious take the wheel when I’m creating, and it takes on a sort of dream logic that teaches me more about myself in the same way I hope it inspires imaginative reflection in the audience. It’s a contemplation of the human experience.” – Jacoby Elliott

WOLF – Falling In Love

New Yorker WOLF returns with a punchy slice of indie-pop that juxtaposes bold lyricism with a dreamy production in a way which is really rather beautiful to experience.

I deleted the original lyrics because
It was like a lovey song
Which was completely made up
So why am I writing about that?
It’s stupid, I’m not gonna do that
So until it happens, I’m not writing about it
So dumb

Liyv – Let Me Know

As a child growing up, Liyv’s mother struggled with mental illness that manifested itself in verbal, emotional, and physical abuse. So from an early age, Liyv had to learn to protect herself from someone who should have been caring for her.

This is all unpacked through her new single ‘Let Me Know’, which is truly is one of the most moving compositions you will experience all week.

“‘Let Me Know’ is a message to the younger me that is still a very real part of my psyche. I want her to understand that the things that are happening to her are not her fault. I want to give her permission to allow herself to want life to be better. That’s something I never felt I was allowed to do.”

Taken from the forthcoming sophomore album ‘Matriarch’ which is out soon.

Elias Boussnina – Heroine

I’ve lost count of the number of times that I have featured Danish talent Elias Boussnina over the years.

Consistently serving some of the finest cuts of RnB-pop from the Nordic nation, it’s no surprise that his new singleHeroine’ is once again, a bop.

Written and produced with Danish London-based musician and producer Mont Jake, the song looks at love as an addiction.

“The song is about being addicted to another person – about the sickening feeling you can get when you love someone more than you love yourself or anything else. Is love really that much different from being addicted to drugs? To me, love is a fix we praise. But in a worst-case scenario, love can push a person all the way out there, where you completely lose yourself which ultimately can destroy who you are and become the end of everything.”

New Music: Dana and the Wolf

Dana and the Wolf consists of two enormously powerful vocals, each with it’s own unique character and style. This is a duo who’s sound is refreshingly bold and honest, as is the case with new single ‘Candidates’.

“We weren’t always overly preaching polyamory, the idea that you can have multiple loving relationships at once. Recently we’ve become angered by ignorant comments we’ve received (mostly on Tiktok), so it’s pushed us to further write about our relationships. ‘Candidates’, another song about polyamory, was a 1-minute song we posted on Tiktok, which got an incredible response so we decided to finish it.”

Kirsty Grant – Bad Taste

Kirsty Grant really has solidified her status us one of the UK’s most promising musical talents. With support from the likes of Wonderland, Earmilk, Clout, and The Line of Best Fit, this Scottish-London-based artist is seemingly going to take over the pop world by storm.

Her new EP ‘Chain Reaction’ is out now, and if you give it a spin you’ll understand why Grant is so heavily praised. Talking about the project, she says:

“’Chain Reaction’ was over a year in the making, I have put everything I have into all 6 tracks. When the title was decided, it really set the tone for the project for me, with how I wanted the track list to be ordered, and the visuals that I wanted to go along side it. The definition of chain reaction, was something that I thought fit the songs perfectly, as a lot of the tracks are reflective and talking about the past and looking at situations in hindsight once you’ve overcome them. And where I am right now is a product of a chain reaction from all the of experiences I have had, and the people I have met, just like the tracks. There is a common thread throughout the project, and I can’t wait to see which songs are peoples favourites. My favourite changes every day!”
